Marilyn Jane Burcham, 85, went to her Lord & Savior on Sept 6, 2017. Marilyn was born June 19, 1932, in Parlin, NJ, the 2nd child of Fred & Cecilia Hess. Her family moved to Las Cruces when she was 14, where she attended Las Cruces Union High School. She married her 1st husband in 1951 and they had 4 children together. After becoming a single mom, she moved her family back to Las Cruces in 1971. She then met Neil Burcham, a professor of Animal Science at NMSU, and they were married May 1977. Her children began making them grandparents beginning in 1978. After she retired from accounting work, she took up china painting and quickly mastered the art. Unfortunately, severe peripheral neuropathy destroyed all feeling & dexterity in her hands.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her older sister, Anne Pope and her 2nd daughter Patty Jennings.
She is survived by her husband Neil of 40 years, her daughter Fredda Blair & husband Rick of Las Cruces, her son Doug Berryman & wife Rhonda of Las Cruces, her son Dan Berryman of Santa Fe, and her son-in law Tim Jennings(Patty-deceased) of Roswell. She is also survived by her brother Fred Hess & wife Charlene, her sister Linda Moore, all of Las Cruces, and 1 uncle, William Hess of Florida. She leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to La Posada/Mesilla Valley Hospice of Las Cruces, NM.
