Mildred K. Nissen, 78, of Las Cruces, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012. Millie as she was fondly known was born March 1, 1934 in Manilla, Iowa to Edward and Katherine Henkelman. She enjoyed cooking and shopping but her passion was for her family. Mrs. Nissen will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son Charlie Nissen of Las Cruces; daughters Pamela Reichert and husband Rick of Las Cruces, Joretta Wilson and husband Ross of Elizabeth City, N.C., Linda Miller and husband Russel of San Antonio, TX., and Diane Wedge and husband Dennis of Socorro, TX; brothers Maurice Henkelman and wife Julie of Manilla, Iowa and Morele Henkelman of Iowa. Also surviving her are her 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Stanley Nissen, daughter Kathleen, grandson Andrew and her brothers and sisters.
