Hi
I am looking for my Gt Grand mother's first husband.
He married her in the 1890's and had two sons. They still live in South Wales, UK, but Samuel Barnes joined up to fight in the Boer War, but he desserted. Because the sentence for dessertion is death, he left Wales, and board the Lusitania in 1907 at Liverpool, and landed in New York. From the time he docked in New York he became known as JAMES GODWIN.
We know that he was heading for Raton NM alone, and he sent packages from NM to Wales after he arrived. He was 37yo when he arrived, so he probably had another 30 years left unless he met an untimely death.
Can anyone help with info for this fellow? He is particularly interested in locating a grave, but I am sure he would appreciate any help at all, particularly since he is in the UK.
Thanks
Barbara
