Hi,
I descend from Victor Pottman who married Margaret or Gertrude Wies, who I had thought was a Kwik or Wisner. Victor Pottman/Putman was associated with the Mathias Barber family. Mathias was the son of Edward Barber and died in 1764 in Hardwick, NJ. Victor had a sister named Sophia, which was not a common name. Sophia Barber married Johannes Powelson about 1770 probably in Sussex Co., NJ. Victor Putman's assumed son Peter Putman or Potman married Sarah Kinnan/Canaan of Wantage, NJ. I had thought that her father was John Kinnan of Wantage who died intestate there about 1784. Cornelius Atheron did the inventory of John Kinnan's estate. It has been my guess that John Kinnan married a Martha Morrison the daughter of a John Morrison. Johannes and Sophia Barber/Powelson had three sons who married into the Morrison family. Sarah Kinnan seems to have had a sister who married a son of Cornelius Atherton. In the 1793 Census of Vernon, Sussex Co., NJ, Corn. Autherton is listed next to John, Henry, and Jacob Mowerson. John and Jacob Mowerson also appear in the 1774 Hardyston, Sussex Co., NJ, Census.
Anyway, it seems to me that all these families are connected.
Any thoughts?
