I have limited info on the above surnames, but not in Somerset Co., NJ and for a slightly later time period. Residing in Hope Twp., Warren Co., NJ; I have a Louise M. Drake born Feb. 4, 1833 who died Aug. 5, 1907. She was married to Stewart B. Hildebrant born Jan. 26, 1831 who died March 01, 1890. They are both buried at the Swayze Cemetery in Hope Twp.

Stewart Hildebrant is related to Mary Elizabeth Hoit, born Mary 27, 1831 who died Jan. 19, 1919. She was the daughter of Margaret Hildebrant born 1797 in Sussex Co., NJ and James N. Hoit. Mary Elizabeth Hoit married a Mr. Brown and had a daughter Elizabeth Brown who married a Mr. Cooke and moved to Easton, PA.

This is the only info I have on these surnames, but since there were so many in common I thought the location might give you another place to look.

What was your grandfather's mother's name?
Here is a link to those buried in the Swayze Cemetery
ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/nj/warren/cemeteries/swa...
The Hildebrants there are all connected to my Hildebrant.
I do have a Louis Hildebrant born about 1877 in NJ, lived in Hope, Warren Co, NJ in 1880. Two of his siblings are buried in Swayze. He is the son of Smith J. Hildebrant and Emma. Smith J is the son of William S. Hildebrant, and William S. is the son of John C. Hildebrant. John C. is my Margaret's brother.

I see from the WWI Draft registration that your Lewis Teel Hildebrant was born July 16, 1876. This could very well be the same person I have in my line from the 1880 census.

THE EXACT DATES(BORN/DIED) OF MY GRANDFATHER (LEWIS TEEL HILDEBRANT) WOULD BE NO THE FAMILY HEADSTONE NEXT TO THE METHODIST CHURCH. I BELIEVE THE NAME LOUIS HILDEBRANT IS A MISS SPELLING OF LEWIS HILDEBRANT re:WW1 DRAFT REG.

Yes, and the 1900 census has him still in the same family and this time spelled Lewis. I am sure we have the same man in our charts. I will correct my spelling of his name. I have been to both the Swayze Cemetery and the cemetery next to the methodist church. I will have to look and see if I took a picture or notes about his stone. I think I was getting my Hoits/Hoyts at that cemetery, not my Hildebrants.

I have that line back further than John C>Conrad>Johannes>Michel.

Let me know if you need any info. If you have anything on my Margaret who married John Hoit/Hoyt that would be appreciated.
