Somerset Co. NJ

Have parts of family type bible with name of Rem Gerretsen
believe to be related to my Great Grandmonther.I believe they lived in the Harlingen area. I would also like to know information you have because I can't quite piece all the names I have together

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ

family Bible lists all the above surnames. Anna Garretson married to John Voorhees before 1754, the birthdate of Ann Voorhees who married John Powelson in 1786. Daughter Leah Powelson married Peter Vroom (date unknown) then in 1816 married William Sunderland. I am at a dead end and solicit any help I can get.

I am a Garretson My grandfather was Geoge wycoff Garretson from Somerset NJ. I do have some info on the family and some of the names you have mentioned sound familiar.

My greatgrandfather, Charles Powelson b. 1865 in Richfield Twp, Genesse Co. Michigan d. 1898 in White Lake, Michigan
My gggrandfather, Albert Powelson b. 1834 in Michigan d. 1872 in Michigan. Married Elizabeth Warner from Canada
My ggggrandfather was Maurice (or Morris)Powelson b. 1799 in Sommerset Co., NJ d. 1881 in Richfield Twp, Genesse Co. Michigan.

This is a partial tree that my family has traced and we believe to be accurate. There is a Rem Garretson about the time you are looking in the right area of NJ. It is believed that most of my family was in the Somerset area, including Millstone.

Samuel Gerritsen (1671-1763)
The children of Samuel Gerritsen and Yda Reyder were:

1. Bernardus (1696-1765), named for his maternal grandfather.
2. Gerrit (1698-1752), named for his paternal grandfather.
3. Samuel (1701 - ), named for his father
4. Rem (1703-1781), named for his paternal great grandfather.
5. Aeltie (1705-1740) named for her maternal grandmother.
6. Jacobus (1708-1746), probably name for a maternal ancestor.
7. Maria (1711- _ named for her paternal grandmother.
8. Wilhelmus (1713-1746), probably named for his paternal half-uncle
9. Johannes (1716-1766), perhaps named for his maternal uncle, Jan Ryder, who with his wife Aeltje were his baptismal sponsors in the Gravesend Dutch Church.

It was from Jacobus, the sixth child, that our line is descended.

This is where the history we have thus far ends for what has been sent to me. I believe William is my GGGrandfather. My Father and Grandfather and I all have the same name. I don't recall my GGrandfathers name at the moment, but I do know it.

Don't think same line as you. Not really sure where Rem fits in my family tree. have this page from old family bible that has info on him birth and death dates dont match and wife but not her name My family tree is with Quicks from Harlingen Somerset county though alot of other names are
popping up just cant get it all together Thanks for the info

My great-great grandfather Henry V Garretson, had among other sons - Remsen born about 1820 and died in 1843. I wonder if the date matches.
