Looking for info about Helen W. French and husband William Remsen French. He was born in Red Bank, New Jersey. They were living in Bound Brook, in 1917. He went into the Army and died of pneumonia
January 29, 1918. They had two children.

Any help in trying to locate Helen W. French and children would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Trish

Surnames: French, Bartlett, Hendrickson, Harris, Taylor
Dear Trish, What a surprise! William Remsen French was the sone of Emile French and Adele Taylor (Of Middletown, NJ ). They also had a daughter, Hilda, who dies about age 16 from being kicked in the head by a horse while out riding in the vicinity of Eatontown, NJ. My mother, Jane Harris Hendrickson Bartlett, was "Billy Rem"'s half sister. After Emile French died, his widow Adle Taylor French, my grandmother, married Charles Hendrickson. I believe he had a wife and child, and that some falling out occured between him and his mother. All of this happened well before I was born, and I only have shreads. I think it was this (then adult) child, also called William French, who came and visted with me and my family in Rumson NJ about 1960(?). He was, I believe, in the Merchant marine. He made a VERY big hit with my sister and myself, much to my father's dismay as I recall. I do have some rathr limited family stories about William French I would be happy to speak with you. I woke up this morning thinbking thatI could find his name on the internet and learn more about the situation which my mother refused to discuss with me. My phone is 804-366-8373. My father died while living on Amelia Island 1986- coincidence?? Someone there disposed of much of the contents of the house (papers, letters perhaps?) How do you know the French family?

Hi,
Just returned from a trip, and found your message. I will read your comments tomorrow. I have info on Emile French and his sister, Mary, and their mother and father and grandparents. They were all members of the North American Phalanx.
My grandfather, John Tracy Grey was the grandson of Mary French Grey, who was the sister of Nathan R. French, Charles
and William French. Their father, John French, wrote a bio, which I have. It is quite interesting. I have newspaper articles about Emile, Hilda and William's death.

Will write more, later,
Trish

Hi Helen! Got you VM but too busy at the time to respond. I am very interested- my mom never had any details about the Phalanx community other than her family was "involved" somehow. She was born long afterward, I think.
Company for weekend- maybe we can catch up next week- what are good times for you?

Hi Katherine,
I am in and out, since I have retired. Just leave a message if you can't reach me and I'll call you back.
Helen W. and William R. French, I believe had two children,
so you and I would be some kind of blood relatives. William would have been my fifth cousin. It sounds like your grandmother Adele had an unfortunate live, loosing both of the French children and her husband Emile. Hope she was happy after she remarried.

I do have lots of info about the Phalanx. Looking forward to sharing info with you.

Trish

KATHERINE, WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU. AS THEY HAD TWO CHILDREN, WHICH WOULD MEAN THEY ARE RELATED TO ME. WOULD LIKE TO KNOW
MORE ABOUT THEM. DID SHE REMARRY TO SOMEONE WHO ADOPTED THEM AND THEIR SURNAME IS CHANGED?

HOPING TO HEAR FROM YOU,
TRISH

I have just written you a clever and complete explanation that when I posted it I received an error message- so frustrating! Please do call me at 804-739-1441 so we can just talk- I hate to type. I am SO sorry not to have gotten back to you sooner- I am very intereste din Phalanx- I grew up near by and never got much info form muy mom about it.
As Adele Taylor French Hendrickson was rtelated somehow to us both I suppose we are indeed relatives! I find itt such a coincidence that my dad- in no way related to Adele- lived in Amelia Island when he died in 1986! Call me- I too am in and out but will try to stop being so ellusive.

Thank you SO much for the articles and information Trish (was it Trish?). It is amazing to reconstruct from such flimsey snippets he fabric of one's ancestor's lives. Did you tell me the name of William Remsen French's wife? And that there was a daughter too? How were Delia Carrol and John Gibson, residing with Emile at time of the 1910 census sheet related to Emile?
My father's side of the family has Gibsons as well- I suppose no connection.
