Hello Joan,

Thank you for posting all the helpful information for Carnell E. Brown. This certainly helps fill in alot of blanks. I got Carnell's death date from another relative who has a Public Tree on Ancestry.com (Lombards from The Mayflower). I made contact with the owner of the tree tonight and sent the posts to her. Hopefully, she will be able to pass on the verification for the date of 1912.

I also have a Public Tree on Ancestry.com It is the Brown and Johnson Family Tree. The tree goes back to Henry E. Brown - the father of Carnell.

I would like to keep in contact and share information. As you can see my first post was in 1999, so I am quite excited to be having contact with Brown relatives. 2009 has been a good year for Brown genealogy.

My email is momcleck2@yahoo.com

Thank you again.

Eileen

Emmaretta Brown is my great aunt. Her brother, Benjamin Osborne Brown is her brother and my grandfather. Info I have for Emmaretta is born 1869 May 14 in Port Monmouth, Monmouth County, New Jersey and died 1891 Oct 18.

In your post it wasn't clear to me if Theodore and Emmaretta or Theodore and Eliza had Bessie and William - would you post what is correct for me? I didn't know of Theodore's marriage to Eliza until your post.

Emmaretta had 11 siblings.

Eileen

Apparently our family (my father Earnest A. Wells). around 1949/50) was contacted about land in or around the Barnegate Light area that he and sisters Theresa and Dorothy and brother John were heirs to. We heard later that the land was turned into a sanctuary or something. This is about all information we have,my gfather's name was Howard deceased at the time and taxes were not paid for around twenty five years so land was lost. Just curious about lineage on the land and what land it is, as this is all the family information we have on Wells Family, and of course we would like to trace our lineage. Thanks for any help you can offer or direction.
Cedar Crest--anyone know anything about this place?

Does anyone have any info at all about a town called Cedar Crest? I know it was near Bamber Lake in Lacey, and I've got a lot of news items from the local papers from there from around 1913 to 1919, when the news just stops. I've looked at a lot of papers from the '20s and '30s, and other than some land being sold at auction in 1937, I haven't seen a single reference to this place. I'm trying to find out what happened to it---the Cedar Crest Produce company seemed to be the big employer, so maybe they went bankrupt? It's just odd that a town could just vanish like that without a mention in the local papers.

You may want to try contacting the New Jersey Maritime Museum in Beach Haven New Jersey on Long Beach Island. They have a great library and alot of info on the Light house and life saving service. They would probably be a better source than Tuckerton. The museum is the personal cellection of Deb Whitcraft the former mayor of Beach Haven. The late John Bailey lloyd wrote extensively about the lighthouse. Check out his three books all published by Down the Shore publishing.

My family history says that we were keepers also, and came to Michigan later. Stayed at the home of Abraham Hunt until home was established. The light house was built at the boarding house of Jacob Haring, My family.
Shelly

I will check my Havens' info and get back to you on that one as soon as I can. As far as your Megill's you can check on the Monmouth County Megill's in a book called Megill's of Monmouth County and you will probably find that in your library or can get it on inter library loan...Our David Megill came from Scotland, I think around 1750. Genealogy.com has a cd available with the Megills on it. I'll check on the name and number of that cd (I have it).

Will get back to you soon.
