I would like to get any information on the Asays running a shipping business in Ocean County, New Jersey. Does anyone have access to the manuscript: "The Asay Family in Tom's River New Jersey" by Edward G. Asay. According to Chet Asay's research it is a very interesting account. Edward's Grandfather, Charles M. Asay, was the eldest son of "Capt'n Ben Asay." Capt'n Ben and four of his sons ran pleasure and commercial boats on the New Jersey coast. The account starts with Michael Asay born 1788 and married to Phoebe. They had twelve children: William, Barzilla, Thomas, James, Michael, Peter, Henry, Samuel, John, Mary and Elizabeth (twins), and Elwood. Barzilla was born in 1818 and married Achsah Girten. They had six children: Michael Henry, Andrianna, Sarah Jane, John Henry, Pheobe, and Benjamin H. Thank you for any help.
