I've just read a great blog post by Amy Johnson Crow that will solve my brick wall of proving that Isaac GOBLE is the son of Rachel BROOKFIELD GOBLE, although she died intestate. That's my missing link to connect my line to Rachel's father, Revolutionary War patriot John BROOKFIELD, Esq.
BUT...in order to make this connection, I need to prove that the laws of descent in New Jersey in **1800** provided the children of the decedent shared equally in her estate.
I've found the 1846 law of descent on the Rutgers law library website, but I need it for 1800. I'm not a lawyer, nor did I play one on TV. Can anybody help??
Here's the link, in case it will help someone else:http://www.amyjohnsoncrow.com/identifying-children-when-your...
