Does anyone know the whereabouts of the records from the Meehan Funeral Home that was in Spring Lake Heights? The New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs lists the funeral home as closed with the license expired 12-31-03. I'm trying to find where my Aunt is buried but her obituary only states that arrangements where handled by the Meehan Funeral Home.

Thanks for your help.

Meehan Funeral Home is still listed in my phone book as an active funeral home. I'd call them and see.

Meehan's was torn down and there is now a bank there. I know at one point one of the sons was working for Neary Quinn Funeral Home in Manasquan, N.J. Maybe they can help

Yeah, Google Street View shows a bank there and the phone number comes up as a Meehan residence in a very residential neighborhood, so definitely not a new funeral home. So much for the 'current' phone book and listings online! I'm curious, do you know how long ago it was torn down? Just wondering how 'outdated' the phone book is!!

Hi,
My father was burried from Meehan's in 1974. Meehan's was not good at record keeping and even had my father's date of death wrong. I suggest you contact Neary's funeral home in Manasquan. I believe that one of the Meehan's went to work there after the family business closed. They may be able to tell you how to obtain records. If not, Monmouth county should have some records.
What is your aunt's name? I'd be happy to help you to search.

Thanks for the suggestion of contacting Neary Quinn Funeral Home. The woman I spoke to did say one of the Meehan sons works there. I gave her the information about my Aunt and hope they'll be able to find her records and call me back.

Hi,

I did contact Neary Quinn Funeral Home as you suggested. One of the Meehan sons does work there. The woman I spoke to wasn't sure what happened to the Meehan Funeral Home records but she took the information about my Aunt and said she would give it to the Meehan son.

Thanks for the offer to help find in my search. My Aunt was Elizabeth O'Connor (nee Delehanty). She died on April 25, 1995 and was living in Spring Lake. I did call St. Catherine's Cemetery as my Aunt's parents are buried there but Elizabeth is not. I'm waiting for a response to my request to the Borough of Spring Lake Registrar for a copy of the death certificate. Not sure if it will tell me where my Aunt is buried.

I want to say maybe 3-5 years the funeral home has been gone. Behind they funeral on the street by the railroad tracks is a George Meehan, lawyer, (use to be a few years back)son/brother tooriginal owners. Maybe that is the phone number you are getting. Just a thought.
