GRANVILLE, OH: Frank J. Bellino, 85, a retired music professor at Denison University, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at his home.
He was born July 28, 1927 in West New York, New Jersey to the late Dominic and Maria (Viggianni) Bellino.

As a high school student, Frank enrolled in the 'Henry Street Settlement' school of music on New York's lower eastside.
Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

Frank pursued his undergraduate studies at Ohio University, Athens, Ohio and his graduate work at the Eastman School of Music where he performed with the Rochester Philharmonic, then the Houston Symphony, followed by the Minneapolis Orchestra.

He studied violin, viola, viola d'amore in Rome and performed locally as well as internationally.
Searching for "new horizons", he went into college teaching at Denison University with the idea of teaching for one year.
However, his quest led him into a 30 year position as Professor Emeritus teaching strings, chamber music, conducting the college-community orchestra, performing, and various other responsibilities.

Frank is survived by his daughter, Ann Bellino, of the home.

There is no better way to honor a loving father than to have calling hours 2 to 4 P.M. on Father's Day, Sunday, June 16, 2013 at McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect St, in Granville, Ohio.

A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to All Tails Rescue, 12591 Worthington Road, Pataskala, Ohio 43063 or any musical charity of your choice.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.

Licking County, Ohio

Published in the Advocate, Newark, Ohio on June 14, 2013

I am researching my grandmothers ancestors. I am interested in her great grandfather's line. His name is Martin Rencken (B: abt 1850). Martins wife was Wilhelmina Rencken (B: abt 1851). They were from Jersey City, New Jersey. They has two sons; Henry George Rencken & John Martin Rencken. Martin's father's name was Henry Rencken. I am interested to know if Martin had any siblings. I am also interested in finding out what Wilhelminas surname was. I can not find a ss death index for either one of them.
Have you tried just putting his name in qoutes into Google?
Sometimes that leads to a newspaper.

You might also want to call Holy Cross and ask who the unertaker was. Undertakers are usually great resources to tap into. Perhaps in that time frame, they "might" have been involved in putting an obit in the newspaper.

I'd also ask Holy Cross and/or an undrtaker what county he died in. Sometimes cemeteries retain this information.

If you come up with Jersey City, I've had great success obtaining obits from the JC Library via the mail.

In my experience, searching with fewer details works better. IOW, try just the surname of one party - don't try to search for both parties at the same time. That database is searchable with only a partial surname, too.

Good luck!

Thanks very much for the links. So far no luck with multiple spellings and various combinations of names. Maybe the marriage was performed in someone's house although you would think that it was still registered. I am not even sure why he married them because neither James or Catherine where members of the Dutch Reformed Church. James was a Presbyterian and Catherine may have been Church of England (he parent's were English). Catherine's father was Thomas Leighton of the New England Glass Works in Cambridge, Mass. Anyway, thanks for the link. I will keep trying because I know this is where they married as I have the marriage announcement. Thanks again!

Does anyone one know where in the New Jersey archives website I can find information on how to order a marriage certificate? I am trying to purchase the marriage record of James Curr and Catherine Leighton. They were married in Jersey City on Nov. 21, 1850 by the Rev Daniel Lord. The New Jersey Vital Records sends me to the archives but just to the site. I can't find the area that tells me where to send the request and how much it costs. Thanks for the information.

Lookup request - Marriage in Jersey City (1883)

Hello. I hope somebody might be able to assist. I live in the UK and am carrying out research for a thesis, with a fairly tight deadline. My initial research just over a year ago required me to ask for assistance via the Message Board regarding look-ups at NJ Archives, and I now need to ask again.

On FamilySearch, I have located the marriage of Chas. E. Burroughes to Edna Birdsall, 1 Jan 1883 in Jersey City, Hudson, NJ. I desperately need a copy of the original record, and wondered if any regular visitors to NJ Archives might be able to assist with this. I would be most grateful for any assistance, as it will greatly benefit this research project. Many thanks.

Simon

Good point Sharon. I failed to mention the dating problem in my message.

A professional with whom I have corresponded told me that the Archives staff told her approximately 50% of the dates are off by 1 year in the familysearch index for all vital records, because of the process of reporting by fiscal year. Either the indexers were not correctly informed or did not pay attention.

The birth of my grandfather is incorrectly indexed as July 1892. He was born July 1893, confirmed from baptismal and other records.

Please be aware that the year reported on FamilySearch is often wrong for records between January and June. This has to do with sloppy indexing practices in the past and not understanding how records were reported.

That marriage may have taken place on 1 Jan 1884.

Sorry, I can't help in person. I no longer live in NJ. You can order this record from NJ Archives directly.

http://www.nj.gov/state/archives/referenceFees.html

Good luck with your search.

Sharon

I just missed them when I called this afternoon, and will be trying again tomorrow. I'm doubtful that the records from 1868 would still be in the ME Office; the NJ State Library told me that the NJ Archives has coroner records from 1889-1910, but they had no information about earlier records.

He is buried at Holy Cross Cemetery.

I do not know with absolute certainty that he died in Hudson County, but the last trace I have of him is a 1952 Paterson city directory, with a notation that he had moved to Jersey City.

He was born in Hudson or Essex in 1903, to Patrick Hughes and Emma McKenna.

Aloysius married late - about 1941 - to Theresa L, maiden name unknown.
I know I'm coming to the party a little late. This is my family. Are either of you still active in researching these lines?

Valerie

Hello -
James McNamara was my great great grandfather. I only have info on him from the 1880 Census (you can find this on familysearch.org). he is listed with his wife bridget and children (maurice, sarah, john, mary, annie and james). he is listed as a trunk maker here too.

I don't have any further info - but if you've found anything since 2005, I'd love to connect. I'm a descendent of John, James' son.

Thanks!
Deborah McNamara
