My ggg-grandfather, Claus Basse was president of a "Hudson Consumer's Brewing Co." at 28th and Summit Ave. in Union City. I have no idea of dates, but estimate it somewhere in the mid 1800's. I have a copy of an article from the "Hudson Dispatch" with the heading "President of Hudson Consumers Brewing Co. Stricken Down with Typhoid Fever." A Mr. Edward Bergmann was mentioned as treasurer & "intimate friend." A Dr. E. T. Steadman of Hoboken "and 2 nurses from Christ Hospital" attended him. (He apparently was pretty wealthy.) Claus' wife's name was Catherine M. His daughter, Anna Basse married Frederick Kopishke. One of their children, John Joseph Kopishke was my grandfather.
I have no dates on any of these people, though my dad, Robert Kopishke was born in 1927. ANY INFORMATION on Claus Basse, Catherine M. (his wife) or any of the other above mentioned people would be greatly appreciated.
Also, any information on Hudson Consumer's Brewing Company.
