The 1900 census for Jersey City (3rd Precinct, Ward 12, Enumeration District 169, Sheet 26) (in Ancestry.com it's image 53 of 65) shows a street name for lines 74 - 100 as being Hudson Boulevard Finley Durham Ave. However, The Finley Durham part is difficult to read and I may hve transcribbed it incorrectly. I checked the earliest Jersey City map I could find (1908) and there is no mention of anything like Finley Durham Ave. The specific area I am interested in connects Poplar and Irving Sts.
I am guessing that around 1900 that part of Hudson Boulevard was known by an alternate name. Does anyone know what the correct transcription of "Finley Durham" should be?
