Are you sure your looking at that correct? Where were Geo. & Ruth Fuller living 1930?
I found 2 Ruth V. Capsersons 1930 both in Woodbury. One w/husband Norman & one at Underwood Hospital. Apparently she was enumerated twice, once at work (April 14)& once at home (April 2). Ruth was listed as a nurse on both.

Were you aware that Ruth's parents both died (I assume) bet. 1910 & 1920? Ruth & John were in an Orphan Home, Marlin was a hired hand,Verna was adopted, & Leila was a hired girl.

I am interested in this family because my ggg grandmother was a Mary Babington, born 1795 in New Jersey. She married James Smith Garoutte between 1809-1813, possibly in Pleasant Mills (Atlantic County) or Cape May (Cumberland Co.), New Jersey, which is near. Lots of folks have submitted dates and places for her birth, marriage and death to the International Genealogical Index maintained by the LDS.

I would like to find the names of her parents, but have been unable to locate the marriage record. Because of the proximity of Millville to Pleasant Mills, where I know the Garoutte family lived, I am wondering if there might be a connection. According to "The Garoutte History", 3rd edition, published in 1985, James and his siblings were born in Gloucester and Burlington Couties. A couple of his siblings marriages have been located in the Gloucester County Historic Society index online.

Also, I have a photograph of the headstone mentioned in your post for Rosanna Ireland Babington. Located online at http://memory.loc.gov is a photograph of a cast iron headstone originally in the Weymouth ME Church Burying Ground, taken by Nathaniel R. Ewan, March 20, 1937:
Rosanna Ireland Babington Cast Iron Gravestone, Batsto Museum (moved from ME, Weymouth), Batsto, Burlington County, NJ
Inscription reads:
In Memory Of Rosana Ireland Babington - she departed this life
July 13, 1825
Aged 18 Months
O death it is a .... all

I would appreciate any suggestions as to where I might find marriage records for this area. This marriage does not appear in the Gloucester County index online, but perhaps I should concentrate next on Cumberland County.

Regards,
Jane
I don’t know what else you have on George.

In 1870 George was living in Philadelphia. In 1880 his name was George Freas in the census index at Ancestry. He was still in Philadelphia. In 1900 I believe I found Andrew in Philadelphia.

The 1860 census for George does not have anything in the column for the value of real estate. He may have been renting a farm which would make it difficult to determine where the farm was. The deed would have been in the name of the owner.

For baptism or other church records you could try looking for a church that had a German congregation. The Gloucester County Historical Society may have information that will help you.

The New Jersey State Archive in Trenton may have birth certificates for the children born in New Jersey. They may also have marriage certificates for some of the children.

If Andrew married in Philadelphia the Family History Center has indexes of Philadelphia marriages. From this you can get the certificate number and order the certificate.

Curt Miller

Please contact me at bobvelma64@aol.com.Are there any old maps out there that show these old hamlets? Thank you, Bob Richardson

I just found your reply as I changed my address.
Yes,we are related. Your Levin was my 3great grandfather....Levin(1),John(2),Winfield(3),Amelia(4),Bernard Heiser(5),Sandra Hoffman(6).
I am in the process of sending for your Levin Jr's marriage certificate to Sarah Stetser in the hopes that it lists his mother's full name. I don't have her surname as yet.
My email address is now
Sandra.Hoffman06@comcast.net
Thanks for responding.
I have since found the will of Jedediah Elwell who left a tavern and ferry to Permelia Densten, wife of Levin Densten in 1833 or 1834.
Permelia was buried in Stranger's Cemetery in Woodbury along with 3 of her dead babies. The cemetery was moved to Deptford Township mid 1900's where Permelia and children are said to now be buried.
My email address has changed to
Sandra.Hoffman06@comcast.net

Hi, You should ignore the reference to Hot Springs. I have a ancestor who lived in Gloucester County in 1840. Ancestry's search engine says he lived in the town of Missouri. I don't know if it's just Gloucester or all of the 1840 census is corrupted but you need to look at the actual photo of the census ledger.
There is a Chatten Hewitt who lived in Washington Twp, Gloucester Co in 1840. The record says that there was a man in his 70s(Chatten?),and a man in his 30s, also a woman in her 20s and a girl under 5 were in the house.
A good site for Jersey maps is www.mapmaker.rutgers.edu
Hope this helps, Michael

1930 Franklin twp., NJ has Harold & Marie (Myers) Eckbold. They have a son Harold age 1yr-3mths. I could not find this Harold (born 1928-1929) on the SSDI so I looked him up on Public Records. There is a Harold age 80 & Margaret age 75 Eckbold living in Summers Point, NJ.
If they are still living, I don't know why they weren't listed in Wlm.'s obit. Was there any mention of parents at all(something like both parents deceased)? If not, I would contact Harold in Summers Point....what do you have to lose!

good luck,
Bonnie
let me know if you want I can e-mail you the address & phone number of Harold

Bonnie - Thank you for answering. I have read all three obits - the 20th and 21th are the same and the 27 is his burial. None of the obits list parents at all, only that he was a lifelong resident of the Franklinville area and a graduate of Delsea High School. Class of 1968. The item on the 27th shows he was buried at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Vineland.
I will have to try to contact one of the suvuvors. Thanks again.

Doing a lot of research on George (Georg) Horner my 6th great-grandfather. I think he was an American solider during the American Revolution, but I can't find anything regarding his service. Does anyone have any info on this man??

Family of Thomas L. Jones

I am trying to find the family of my great-great grandfather Thomas L. Jones, born in 1812 in New Jersey. He relocated to Bowling Green, Caroline County, Virginia by 12/22/1835 where he married Mary L. H. Cecil and raised a family there with her (7 children). He was a coachmaker/mechanic in his later life.

Any help finding his family would be greatly appreciated!

David E. Wiley
Reston, VA
tracingmyroots@yahoo.com
