Sorry, I didn't see these before, but there was a section of lower Swedesboro/Woolwich known as New Town. Seems like a lot of these little places became so called during times of new growth in the area. Woodstown had one too, out by the Lake and people then thought of them as literally New towns, which you might see on some older maps, though seriously doubt ever incorporated. Eventually all absorbed into the borough that is Swedesboro/Woolwich, just as Woodstown's was. Think 'Battentown'. To my mind, probably almost the same thing.
And yes, I'm in Auburn and we get the New Town Press, a little monthly advertiser that serves the bordering communities within the zip code.
Point is, there may have been others, but when you say Lummis, I think Cumberland County Historical Society Library in Greenwich CUMBERLAND Co. (not pronounced the same as Greenwich in Gloucester co. ha) which is the Lummis Library.
That's where that family came into NJ from New England I think, and certainly had the wherewithal to send their sons to medical school in the first place.
Here's a link. You might check with them.
