Hi Melody,
I apologize for the delay in my response. Your query inspired me to dig deeper in the Campbell family. Although I didn't find much on the Campbell sons, I found quite a lot on the daughters.
As for the sons:
John disappeared by the 1860 census. BUT I believe he may be the William J. Campbell who married Mary E.Hollingsworth. William J. was 28 in 1860 which fits the birth year I have for John. William's birthplace was listed as Alabama which is the same for John. William disappeared by 1870 as his wife, Mary, was living with her parents along with her children Mary J., Samuel and Lula.
Lorenzo appears in the 1860 census (Union, Newton Co., page 77) as age 21 and a farmer but disappeared after that.
Arthur can be found in the 1870 census but he was an "idiot" - so we can strike him off the list of potential husband of Emily.
So it seems like Lorenzo may have been the husband.. or even Samuel, son of William John.
What do you think?
