I'm at my wit's end with people in Vineland, NJ. They say they cannot look up my great-grandfather's death record without an exact date of death. He left my family in the 1920s and nobody ever heard from him again, so obviously I don't know his exact date of death. I have gotten new evidence recently that he may have died in Vineland, NJ in 1947. I have documentation that he was living there from 1942-1946, and a record that gives a 1947 death date for him, which could be a guess. He was born 4 Sept 1884 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada .

Somehow I'd like someone to do a search for him in the Vital Records office, but they will not allow me to do this online without an exact death date. The woman was extremely rude to me on the phone.

Another option would be to try to find an obituary, but without a date it would be more of a needle-and-haystack thing, I fear.

I would be happy to pay reasonable expenses involved in getting this information
