The Calvert County, Maryland Dare family's DNA has just been proven to be an exact match with our NJ Dare Family line! We now have 4 exact matches to that line of DNA. One from Southern NJ, one from Wyoming (who links exactly at our Captain Dare generation), one from a Dare in London, and the Calvert County, MD Dare line!)
This is history making news! That means that Maryland immigrant ancestor James Dare of Sandhurst, Bershire, England, circa 1645-1699 (son of another William Dare 1629) was a close cousin of Captain William Dare circa 1655-1720, once sheriff of Cumberland and Salem County, who was the immigrant ancestor of South Jersey Dares and native of Lyme Regis, Dorset, England!
James Dare settled in Calvert County, MD and Captain William Dare settled in southern New Jersey along the Cumberland and Salem County coast.
This has solved a long term mystery of whether 40% of the Dares in America were related to another 40% of the Dares in America! An exciting find indeed! Results will be posted soon to
www.darefamily.com !
