Steve - I just gathered a passage from a publication that might be of interest to you. I have no idea if these are the cufflinks, but worth sharing:

The legend of the heirloom of silver cufflinks tying the family to its
English ancestry is illuminating in tracing the family tree. There is inscribed
on these cufflinks a four leaf clover, and it is believed they arrived in the
United States about the year 1626, some six years after the landing of the
Mayflower. The legend further related that they once graced the cuffs of
James Russell Lowell, the famous poet. They were brought to Sweet Home
by Newton Russell, the eldest son of his generation; thence passed to his
eldest son, Oliver; and thence to his eldest son, Judge Edgar Russell, in
whose possession they now are.
