Hi
Patti, In the 1930 census I found a Ruth
Parker born about 1928. She lived at 110 Phila
Ave, Egg
Harbor City. She was listed as a adopted daughter. The head of the house was William
Leek, 57, a plasterer. He was listed as married but there is no wife listed. Boarding at the house was a James
Conover, 51, a laborer & his children. Conover is also listed as married but no wife present. It's not clear to me who Ruth's father is. Is this your grandmother? As to Herbert
Weber I have very little. There are a couple of
Weber families in
Mullica in old census records. There are 1 or 2 in Hammonton, & several in EHC and
Galloway Twp. Apparantly not all of these families were related. Weber is apparantly a very common
German sirname. There are no
Herberts among them. The only Herbert
Weber who I can find who fits was born on 26 Jun 1926 and died Feb 1967 somewhere in NJ according to Social Security records. The 1940 census will not be released for 3 more years. Without his parents names I'm at a dead end. I would suggest that you go through any old pictures or papers that they had if available. Sometimes putting together a couple of scraps of info can lead to a breakthrough. If your GPs would be in their 80s now there might be some oldtimers around
Elwood or EHC who might remember them. You could look for someone chatty if you live locally.
Best wishes, Mike
