I am looking for any Johnson or Johnston families who were in Durham (later Lee) in the early- to mis-1700s. In particular, Joseph Johnson, born about 1751 in Lee. He lived in Newcastle, Lincoln, Maine and Balltown (Whitefield), Lincoln, Maine. He was a soldier in the Continental Army in the Revolutionary War.

Who were his parents or other relatives? Was he related to Samuel Johnson who also lived at Balltown and Newcastle.
