Toscan/Tuscan - Out of Wedlock Birth. ????

I am writing to ask how I could find out if there was an illegitimate birth in 1787 in Rockingham County or anywhere in New Hampshire? Our line may have come from an out of wedlock birth or an affair??? Does anyone have any ideas of how I could find this out? I have gotten the possible father's probate records and there was no listing to my knowledge of any land or money etc.. being left to our ancestor John Tuscan by Jean Joseph Maria Toscan who married Elizabeth Parrot in 1790. Our John was b. about 1787. We have a listing on a census that he was b. in Ma. , but on his son John't death record it says his father was b. in Greenfield NH. Which could have been ment to be Greenland also? Jean Joseph Maria Toscan was the Vice Consul from France to New Hampshire and he was written as JOHN TUSCAN in the Lancaster, Coos county history, and in census he was recorded as John Toscan. I would like to know if there is any way to find out about births out of wed lock. Any suggestions? Thank you. Sal
