I am looking for information on Jesse Smith, b 19 Mar 1792 in Raymond, f Ezekiel Smith, m Elizabeth (Dolloff)Smith. This information was taken from a biography on Jesse's grandson, my grandfather. An LDS web site search gave Ezekiel's father as Alexander and his grandfather as Esekiel, but there are no references given for this. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The Alexander link was a bad one. So it would be just information available on Jesse and Ezekiel, if it is available.
Thanks

Hello. I like to offer information about the towns and cities mentioned on postings. This is information about Raymond, NH:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raymond,_New_Hampshire

The town was incorporated in 1764, and residents mostly came from Exeter, NH, so that is another town to consider for families you are interested in during 1700's.

Betty (near Lowell, MA)

(I see the surnames you are interested in are SMITH and DOLLOFF.)

Apologies in advance, I'm still very new at all this. Since my first query, I've done the Wiki thing for all the neighboring towns that apply to the families and I've downloaded several books from archive.org for the towns that have histories.
Familysearch.org gives me the line as being Jesse- Ezekiel- Alexander- Esekiel, but there are several different listings that don't seem to match well. If it's right then it should be;
Jesse - b Raymond NH 1792 d - NY 1879
Ezekiel - b Raymond 1770 d Piermont 1857
Alexander - b Chester 1738 d Andover 1824
Esekiel - d Raymond 1780
Ancestry.com has what seem to be good lines for the Dolloffs, Fifields, Dixs and Roberts. I just can't seem to find the right Smiths.
Living in the UK, I can't just pop around to Raymond, Chester, Andover, or Exeter to visit the records offices.
I guess I was hoping there would be other Smiths out there that had some info, thanks anyways...:-)
Dale, near Oxford.

Dale,

I have "History of the Town of Andover, NH" and your Alexander Smith was b. in Chester, N.H., April 9, 1738; came to Andover between 1800 and 1806; d. in Andover March 4, 1824; m. in Kingston, March 13, 1760, Mehitable Fifield of Chester. b. June 15, 1736; d. in Andover Feb. 13, 1827.

It goes on to list their 6 children and info about the children, as well.

If you need this info let me know and I will send copies of it to you via snail mail. (Typing is not my favorite thing to do :-)) Please respond to me at eileencoyle@mchsi.com

That's one of the books I've managed to download.
The problem is with Alexander's son Ezekiel and proving he had two wives; Elizabeth Dolloff b 26 Feb 1767(Raymond) -1806 & Hannah Ingals 1787-1877 (Andover) m 1807.
A listing I found for Elizabeth listed two children; Jesse (my tree) 1792-1789 & Clement 1794-1875
I can't nail down that this is a real link, or someone matching two Ezekiels so that it was "made to fit" in a database? It makes perfect sense for it to be right, I just can't verify it.
Thanks for the offer on the snail mail.

Hi, I too am researching this family of Smith's. Although I am trying to research a Benjamin Smith, cousin to your Jesse Smith. I to found a Alexander Smith connection but found the marriage listing as Mehitable Fifield b. 6-15-1736
m. March 13, 1760 in Kingston, NH Where Jesse fits in I am not to sure of yet. Do you have a listing of the children of Alexander? I am only showing 6 and may be missing either another wife or more children.
Have you looked at the Chautauqua County NY history for a short mention of Jesse Smith. It also mentions his cousin Benjamin but I have not been able to get all the relationships in correct order yet.

I found this listing:
EZEKIEL, son of Alexander and Mehitable (Fifield) Smith, b. July 20, 1770; d. in Piermont Dec. 17, 1857; m., Bristol, Jan. 16, 1807, HANNAH, dau. of Jonathan and Abigail (Cleveland) INGALLS of Bristol; b. April 3, 1787; d. Jan. 3, 1877. When married Mr. Smith was a farmer in Bristol, where he res. until 1828, when he moved to Peacham, Vt. In 1848 he moved to Piermont, N. H.

We chatted in Apr on my wife's profile on Ancestry. Here's what I have for Benjamin.

1) Alexander Smith b-9 Apr 1738 Chester NH, d-4 Mar 1824 Andover NH, Married Mehitable Fifield b-15 Jun 1736 Chester NH, d-13 Feb 1827 Andover NH

2) Moses Smith b-15 Feb 1773 Raymond NH, d-9 Oct 1846 Kiantone, Chautuaqua NY, Married Margaret Dollof b-6 Feb 1772 Raymond NH, d-6 Jul 1861 Chautauqua NY (sister of Jesse's mother Elizabeth and brother of Nicholas listed in "Early History of Ellicot NY" as being on the same saw mill gang as Jesse)

3) Benjamin Smith b-1797 NH, married Eunice Dix b-abt 1791 VT, d-29 Feb 1876 (possibly related to Jesse's wife Emily Dix, but I haven't found a connection yet)

4) Eaton Benjamin Smith b-26 Mar 1826, Panama, Chautauqua, NY, d-Sep 1901, Married Sarah Fletcher 30 Jan 1855, Warren Pa, b-1832 Harmony NY d-3 Aug 1860 Panama NY. Married Mary Nelson abt-1880/1 (widow of Henry Dix Smith, son of Jesse) b-1845 Bliss NY, d-1923 Elm Flats NY

5) Helen Gail Smith b-Aug 1882 Panama, NY

It looks like Moses' brother Ezekiel should have been married twice for the connections to work, I just can't find a reference to it. The other problem is Elizabeth and Margaret, is that the cousin connection for Benjamin and Jesse?
Above Alexander, Ancestry has it as Ezekiel-William-Nathaniel-Robert, but I haven't gotten that far yet, I'm still trying to make sure I'm not merging two different Ezekiels together and trying to verify the Revolutionary war reference I was given for Alexander.

Hope this helps.

Ah, thanks so much for this info. It might just help me to figure out my connection confusion. As for the Dix girls relationship I do have that connection. I will get it together for you and send it.
this would be much easier if you could email me at the name I use on here at aol.com.
