Pioneer of This District Passed - Andrew Olson, Resident of This Valley Since 1884, Leaves Large Number of Relatives
Andrew Olson, well known to many as a man of sterling character andconstructive aims, died Monday evening at the home of his son-in-law, Martin Kofoed. He was 75 years of age and had given 40 years of his life to homebuilding and to the rearing of an illustrious family in this community.
Mr. Olson was born in Sweden June 28, 1849, later moved to Denmark from where he came directly to this community in 1884. His life was entirely worthly of emulation and as a result he commanded the affectionate regard of all who knew him.
Funeral services were held in his memory at Grace M. E. Church Wednesday afternoon, P.H. Willis, pastor, speaking. Interment was made at the Lower Valley cemetery.
Surviving relatives are the widow, Mrs. Martin Kofoed, Mrs. N. C. Munk and Mrs. Chris Peterson of this community. Mrs. O. H. Swasey of Taft,Calif. and Mrs. A. J. Whitehead of Alameda, Calif., are daughters. Two daughters who attained womanhood and passed on were Mrs. Hans Christenson of this community, and Mrs. Garnett Cowling of San Pedro, Calif.
Mr. Olson retired from active ranching life when he sold his Lower Valley ranching property several years ago. He had been in poor health for a long time although his condition did not assume critical character until a few days in advance of the passing.
