I read with interest your post concerning the Loftus family. I am a member of the Dayton Museum Historical Society (www.daytonnvhistory.org). Our organization has Emma's original diaries, and our Docent has been reading through them and writing newspaper columns about what she finds -- those are the articles you are talking about. They appear both in the local Leader Courier and in Carson City's Nevada Appeal. Several members of our organization knew Emma personally, as well.
Our settlement is the oldest in the state, and our cemetery -- still in use -- is in contention for being the oldest.
