If you could ask your brother that would be great. I have the information on your grandmothers (Katherine) mothers line (Olive Etta Pace). I know they came from North Carolina. I do have some histories, but I have nothing on your grandmothers (Katherine) fathers line (Frank Hoover). I would be interested in sharing information with you and your brother.

Jackie
summers@xmission.com

Do you have any pictures of Katherine and her two sisters, or Katherine and her parents? I have do done a lot of research on Katherine and her two sisters who were twins, Nellie Pearl and Ruby Maude. I found an announcement in the newspaper when she was born. Do you know much about her father Frank Hoover? I know that her mother Olive Etta Pace married Frank Hoover 25 March 1887. Katherine was born the 5 December 1887. On 22 August 1889 Olive and Frank had the twins. I can find mention of Frank in the local papers up through December of 1889. He was a deputy sherriff. After that he just seems to drop off the face of the earth.

Not sure what happened to him. I have heard stories here and there but would be curious to hear what you might have heard. Did Katherine have a journal or life history that was written in.

I know Olive remarried in 1896 to John Schoettlin in Colorado. She was living with her oldest sister in Colorado, not sure if Katherine and the twins were living with her or with Olive's mom in Provo, Utah.

Any light you can shed on this family would be great.

Jackie
summers@xmission.com
Hi,
I don't know who you are, but Chet was my grandfather. Yes his last address was in Pioche, Nevada. I am the youngest of his grand children. My grandma, his wife is still living and resides with my sister. His daughter Wava (my mother) died in 2007. Some where in her things is my grandpa's obituary, my sister may also have a copy. I was only 13 when he passed away. It would take me some time to find it. He is buried in the Pioche cemetery; Lincoln County, Nevada. The services were held in the elementary school's gymnasium. I have spoke to my grandma many times about Grandpa Chet and where he came from and where he was born. This information is from memory but I know that is was Texas. I believe my sister has more information written down.

Could you please contact me my email is paulenarae@lycos.com

POW/MIA Korean War ATHA

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Lincoln County, Nevada as his home of record.

Soldier: ROBERT HARRISON ATHA
Born: 1932
Date of loss: Feb. 13, 1951 MIA
RA18273355
Hq Btry 15th Field Art Btn, 2nd Inf Division

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. There are three families from Nevada that have not been located. There are one family from Lincoln County that has not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
I'm searching for any information on James Laughlin who lived in Pioche, Lincoln, Nevada 1872-1876.
James Laughlin and his wife Mary Ann Hadley moved to Pioche, Nevada in 1872 from Idaho to work for a mining company. He hired on to run a freight wagon with supplies for the miners and their families. James had worked for the Wells Fargo Company in Eagle Rock, Idaho.
James was born in Ireland and his wife Mary Ann was born in Derbyshire, England. While in Pioche, a son and daughter were born to them.
Tragically, in 1875/1876 James was killed in a runaway freight wagon accident and was buried in Pioche. Mary Ann's family came to get her and she and her children moved back to Ogden, Utah.
Any help with this family would be greatly appreciated.
Gratefully,
Mavis Bassett
mavisbassett@yahoo.com
Henry Sharp (and his younger brother Lewis) emigrated to Nevada from Flore (also spelt Floore) Northamptonshire, England. Their family were in Flore for many generations. I think I can go back to Henry Sharp born about 1670 in Flore.
Their paternal grandparents are common ancestors with my cousins wife.
Let me know if you would like any more detail.
regards
David

Issac Newton Garrison was born in Dodgeville Wisconsin in 1845. He was the third child of eight children of William Garrison and Nancy Ferrel. In 1860 they were living in Gentry Co Missori.
Dec 23 1877 Isaac Married Phobe Craw. in Pioche Nv. They had 11 Children all born in Pioche Nv. Charles, Laura, William, Frank, Clara, George, Walter, Roy, Earl, Ira, Etta.

Isaac died July 26 1923 in Haywwod Ca. and is burried in the Lonetree cemetery there.

The death Certicate says he was a farmer. Other information says he was a miner and my father told me he owned what was called the Flat-nose ranch in Pioche. ( I have not been able to find anything on the ranch) There is a mile marker in Nevada that explanes how Issac Newton Garrison discoved the Jackrabbit silver mine there.

I am the grandaughter of Walter, I have pictures of Phobe as a young woman and most of Isaac and Phoebes Children when they were young. I also have a picture of the mile marker in Nevada that mentions Isaac if you are interested in any of this please email me direct.

You are only the second person I have ever found connected to this family. The other was a grandson of Isaac's brother Henry who married Phoebe sister Jeannie Craw

I am happy to find other cousins. and am willing to share my research with others.

marge
geney4me@excite.com

Can't find any info on James. Wife Emma and 3 dau. in 1900 Census. Emma listed as widow. Kids were born in 1878,1880.1885/6. Where oh where can James be? Only thing in 1880 Census is J.L. Donaldson in Eureka. We know for a fact that he was a teamster, so that fits with census. Youngest dau. was my Great Grandmother, so we heard a couple stories. Her SSA Application has him as James Donaldson. Checked Nevada Cemetery listings for all counties listed and nothing. Anyone have any ideas? I really need some input here.

Hi, I have a Charles Culverwell born 12-18-1882 in Meadow Valley, Washington, UT who married Eliza Jane Wadsworth born 12-24-1880 in Panaca, Lincoln, NV. They had a son named Charles William Culverwell born 2-7-1921 in Panaca, Lincoln, NV. Eliza's parents are Nephi John Wadsworth Sr. and Eliza Jane Terry. I descend from Nephi's youngest brother Benjamin Franklin Wadsworth who married Nora Viola Bond and I also descend from Nephi's wife's brother Franklin Durmath Terry who married Rhoda Elizabeth Hunt. If you want more info than what I've already listed, get a hold me. My email: ratlady@chiefinternet.com

I am seeking any information on my great grandfather, Harry Roscorla who worked for the railroad in Caliente in Lincoln County for several years after 1907. He was also elected constable at one point. Anything might be helpful in my research.

Wilson family in Panaca, NV

Looking for family of John Wilson & Mary Comer Wilson who moved to Panaca sometime prior to 1880 Census. John was born 1820 in Manchester, England and Mary was born 1826 in Liberty, Ross, Ohio. Found recent information listing their deaths in Panaca and Caliente. They apparently died before 1900 as they are not listed in that cemetery.

Hoping to combine research on this family to extend them back into England & Ohio.
