"Obituary
Mrs. Serena Marsden, a widow lady, died last night at 12:03 at the home of her son, John Marsden, at Arequa St. She was 65 years of age and had been sick with pneumonia but 3 days. The remains were taken to the Fairly-Lampman undertaking parlors in this city and will probably be sent to her old home at Red Cloud, Nebraska for interment. She leaves besides her son in this district a number of relatives in Nebraska to mourn her death. Deceased was born in Norway, but had been in this country a number of years. She was a kind charitable lady and her death is much to be regretted. Funeral notice will appear in these columns later - Cripple Creek (Colo.) Morning Sun, Nov. 22
The funeral service of Mrs. Serena Marsden, mother of John Marsden of this city were held yesterday afternoon from the Lampman undertaking parlor. The lady was a native of Red Cloud, Nebraska, and Rev. J. G. Tate who knew the family there officiated at the services. The pall bearers were all former residents of the lady's native town. Interment was made temporarily at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, the body not being shipped to Nebraska on account of the serious illness of a grandchild of the deceased, and her son John both being desperatly ill with pneumonia. - Cripple Creek Morning Times, Nov. 27."
