Can anyone tell me where the village of
Townsend
was located? I have a couple 1900
FOWLER
census records that were enumerated in that town, but I cannot find any reference to its former location. I would like to pinpoint it on a map. Thanks!
Gene

As best I can tell,
Townsend
was never a town. A lady named
Adeline
Townsend
ran a rural postoffice out of her house in the NW 1/4 of sec 31 in 25 N 57 W sometime in the 1910/1920s. There were quite a few country postoffices in the homestead era, very few attained the status of "town". cow22

Thanks very much! I'm sure this must be the case.
