There are about 25 Brunkens in Platte County according to the 1920 census. I did not see any of the names you asked about, however.

Thanks for your response.
My niece told me that Diedrick Brunken homesteaded in Platte County north of Columbus ca 1870. The Brunkens found in the previous post actually shows up in the Lancaster County area in 1920. Did they move?
Question for dabrake: Would You be interested in e-mailing me, as my Grandparents came from the Kleinsander area, and I have an interest in the Ubbens as well.

For over twenty years I have been researching Brunkens around the country. They mainly settled in TX, IA, IL, WI, and there are two groups in NE: Lancaster and Platte Counties.
Diederich Brunken who homesteaded in Platte Co. NE is my great-grandfather he died before 1920 Census.
The Lancaster Brunkens are not related to the Platte Co. Brunkens. They immigrated from different places in Germany.
If you let me know details about your Brunkens, or why your niece thinks Platte Co. Brunkens are related I might be able to help connect you to the right family.
