Gottlieb Poellot Passes - from The West Point Republican - January 14, 1921

Gottlieb Poellot, a former citizen and old time pioneer to this county, died at the home of his son, Mr. And Mrs. Herman P. Poellot, at Upton, Wyoming, Wednesday, January 5, 1921, at the age of seventy-four years, nine months, and 11 days. The cause of his death was asthma, of which he had been a sufferer for many years.

The deceased was born on March 24, 1846, it Altdorf, in Bavaria, Germany. He received a common school education in Altdorf. He learned the trade of masonry, which he followed until 1872 when he came to America, settling in West Point, Nebraska. He was united in marriage to Julia Heintz September 1, 1873. Three children were born to this union, two daughters and one son. In later years, he moved to Upton, Wyoming on account of his health and there he resided until his death.

Mr. Poellot is survived by four children of his former marriage, Rose of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Peter and Charles of Pierce, Nebraska; and John of Norfolk, Nebraska; three children by his second marriage; Lizzie and Emma of Chicago, Illinois; and Herman, of Upton, Wyoming; he is survived also besides his widow, by four brothers, Peter of West Point, Nebraska; Daniel of Chicago, Illinois; Erhardt of Coleridge, Nebraska and John of Pierce, Nebraska.

His remains were brought to this city on Friday afternoon and funeral services were held at the Evangelical Church at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. J. H. Derlerking officiating. Internment was made in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The Republican offers condolences to the bereaved family.

Mrs. Oscar Winkler (Rose) of Council Bluffs arrived here Thursday to attend the funeral of her father, Johann Gottleib Poellot.

Charles Poellot of Pierce and Jack Davis of Norfolk returned to their home Friday evening. They were here for the funeral of the former's father, Johann Gottlieb Poellot.

Among those from Beemer who attended the funeral of Johann Gottlieb Poellot were Edward Baas, Phillip Baas, Mrs Howard Nellor, and Mrs. Lena Frahm.
