Mrs. Bauman, Pierce Pioneer, Dies in Norfolk
Mrs. Emma Bauman, 89, daughter of Pierce county pioneers died of the flu and pneumonia complications Monday morning in a Norfolk hospital.
Emma, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Breyer, Pierce county homesteaders, was born November 3, 1870, in Pierce county. She was married October 27, 1898 to Julius Bauman. They spent their married life on a farm near Pierce.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Hilda Buich and Miss Lena Bauman, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Irene Mittelstaedt, Hoskins; four sons, G.P., Tilden banker; Reinhold, Deer Lodge, Mont.; Martin, Lexington, Va., and Louis, Los Angeles; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.
Also one sister, Mrs. William Schellin, Winnetoon, and one brother, Gottlieb Breyer, Tampa.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1928 and one son, Walter in 1947.
Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran church in Norfolk with burial in Zion Lutheran cemetery eleven miles southeast of Pierce.
