LAST RITES FOR L. HERBOLSHEIMER

Large attendance at services held Sunday at St. Johns Lutheran Church

Funeral services for Louis H. Herbolsheimer, a prominent Pierce farmer, were held Sunday afternoon at St. Johns Lutheran Church, two miles northeast of Pierce.

The Pastor, Rev. H.A. Hilpert was in charge of the last rites, his sermon being in the German language. His son, Rev. H.M. Hilpert, of Winside, delivered the English address.

Burial was made in the nearby Lutheran cemetery with sons and sons-in-law as pall bearers. These were Virgil Aubert, Lawrence, Gerhardt, Eldon, and Harlan Herbolsheimer of Pierce and Wm. Fredrickson of Wayne.

Deceased passed away at a Norfolk hospital Tuesday evening, September 30, following a major operation the Friday before. He had been in poor health for over a year. An obituary was published in the Call last week.

Louis H. Herbolsheimer was born in Carroll County, Iowa, April 13, 1883, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lucas F. Herbolsheimer, natives of Germany. At the age of 9 years he came to Pierce County with his parents, who homesteaded the farm just north of St. Johns Lutheran Church.

He attended St. Johns Lutheran school and was confirmed in that Church.

October 18, 1906, he was united in marriage to Miss Lena Breyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Breyer of Pierce. The couple making their home on the farm northeast of town where they now live. At the time of his death Mr. Herbolsheimer was aged 58 years, 5 months, and 17 days.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters and seven sons, they are Mrs. Wm. Fredrickson of Wayne, Mrs. Virgil Aubert of Pierce and Lyleth at home, Lawrence of Pierce and Gerhardt, Eldon, Harlan, Earl, Lyle and Louis Jr. at home. Also survives are three brothers, Chris and Henry of Pierce and John of Bloomfield and four sisters Mrs. Will Hilgert and Mrs. Herman Buckendahl Sr. of Pierce, Mrs. Ludwig Bauer of Randolph and Mrs. Herman Miller of Dahinda, Canada. He is preceded in death by 1 sister and 3 brothers.

His 3 brothers were Fred, George and Will. Death has seemingly dealt heavily with the Herbolsheimer brothers; 4 being taken in less than 3 years.

Among the out of town people in Pierce Sunday to attend the Louis Herbolsheimer funeral rites were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pettit of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold Breyer of Butte, Mrs. Carl Behnke, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Miller, Sr., and Henry Bockelman of Norfolk, Mr. and Mrs. John Herbolsheimer and family of Bloomfield, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Spittgerber of Wayne, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Bauer of Randolph, August Breyer of South Sioux City and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Fredrickson and family of Wakefield.
