Alice (SEXSON) HILL passed away at her home at Grant {Perkins County} Nebraska, last Sunday morning, November 6, after a lingering illness of nearly two years of cancer of the spine. She was seventy-one years of age.

Mrs. HILL was the daughter of John Granville and Martha (WALKER) SEXSON and was born in Center Township, Greene County, Indiana, where she resided with her parents until 1883, when her family moved to York County, Nebraska, where she lived until 1886, then moving to Perkins County in western Nebraska. She was one of the pioneer settlers of this Nebraska county and was identified with the upbuilding of this part of the state, having owned and improved several different pieces of property.

She, with her family was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and lived and practiced that true Christian fellowship, always willing and anxious to do her part for the church and in fact all those in need of help.

She leaves a husband and one son, four brothers, Joseph J.; Edgar H.; Carol Speed; and John G. SEXSON, and many other relatives and a host of friends to mourn their loss.

She visited Greene County a few years ago and renewed many acquaintances of her girlhood days in Center Township.
-
Link to the Obituary of her brother, Joseph J.
Jean. Many thanks. I found Sumner F. Keys buried near Ellsworth, Kansas.

Sumner F. (or T.) Keyes Co. D 4th Vermont Infantry. Sent to Millen, Georgia, 11/11/64. Paroled 11/24/64. Mustered out 4/19/65. Listed as died before 1890 in Madrid, Nebraska, on Roster. Nebraska 1890 Veterans & Widows Census lists Elizabeth R. Purdy as widow of Sumner T.

David, looked into your query, attempting to trace Sumner Keyes and do not find burial information. The 1890 Veterans census, states Elizabeth R. Purdy as Widow of Sumner Keyes. He is most likely interred in the Madrid cemetery. Elizabeth moves on to CO, at times living with her son, and also sister, or possibly sister in law.
I was unable to find Sumner on the 1870 census. He may have been an inpatient, due to his time at Andersonville. On the 1890, he states disabilities caused by the war and being a POW. Hope someone local can help you out. Jean

I am looking for a time period that Charles and Cynthia Anderson Ferrel living in Venango, Perkins County, Nebraska and if they had any children with them. So far I have found at least three children, Cornelius, Elfie/Effie, and Grover; all born in Iowa, around 1879. The last census that I find the Ferrel family is in 1880 in New London, Henry County, Iowa. From a photo, I believe that they moved on to Lamar, Nebraska, then to Loveland, Colorado and Cynthia dies in 1941. I think Cynthia may have died in Loveland and would like to find an obit and death and burial information. Any clues to this family is appreciated.

Jody,

Your quite welcome! I never got the chance to meet Bryan personally but I have heard lots of stories from Todd about him and from what I have heard he was a brave man with a real big heart. Todd says that it is real ironic that our daughter Dayna was born on the same day that he died 2 years later almost to the exact hour. Would you happen to have one of Bryan's senior pictures? Todd says that he had one but somehow it has disappeared over the years. I would like to add a copy of it to the page with his tombstone as well as print one for Todd who by the way says 'Hi, hope all is well with you!' Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Tina

I am looking for the grave of Albert Reiser who died January 17, 1897 in Grant, Nebraska. I found this in the Keith County News but they did not have an obituary: Albert Reiser died at the home of Mrs. E. J. Johnson Sunday night, from the effects of an abcess in the throat which tended toward blood poisoning. He has been at work for some time on North River and came in last Friday for medical treatment. He had waited altogether too long to be successfully treated.

I would like to find out where he is buried. He would be my Great Uncle. Keith County does not show him in the Ogallala Cemetery and I can not find a listing for the cemeteries in Perkins County. Does the Lutheran Churches in Grant have cemeteries? He was a Lutheran.
Thank You
Does anyone know how far these churches were from each other? I know that my grandfather did not own a car or a horse and my mother and I were wondering what the distance was for him to travel between the two. Do either of these churches still exist? Thanks for any help.

I am not sure for what...presumably work opportunity---family remained in Indiana. I think he might have been a grocer. he received his Civil war pension while there. This is how I discovered he was in Brandon. Name: Gustave Marquardt. Anyone associated with Familes named above or knowledge of Brandon, please inform!TY
