AMONG THE MISSING
Roy Savage of This city Reported as Among Those Not Accounted For

From Saturday’s Daily
As is the custom of the government, which gives the parents or relatives fifteen hours notice after an [sic] mishap to their soldier boy, before giving it to the public, Mr. and Mrs. John SAVAGE, of Nebraska City, received notice that their son, Roy, was among the missing following the battle of July 18th. Roy was born and reared in this city and was in the shipping department at the wholesale grocery of Sargeant & Rice co., of this city and enlisted in the service voluntarily on February 22, 1918, and was sent to Ft. Riley and the latter part of April his parents received notice that he was in France. He was attached to the medical department. His parents received a letter from him dated June 18th saying he was well and doing nicely. He was a hard working young man and one who commanded the respect of his employers and others. It is likely that he was captured by the Huns while assisting the wounded and is now in a Hun prison camp, is the idea the parents have of the news. This is the first Nebraska City boy that has either been missing or wounded and it is to be hoped in the present drive the allies may recover a number of the capture Americans.
