Hi,
What would be really nice is to have a copy of your relatives adoption decree. My adoptive parents had a copy and I would bet my natural mother had one also. In that decree, my natural mother's name was listed and my birth name. The paper was in the lock box so I found it when I settled my mother's estate. See if you can find such a paper. It should be about 3 pages of legal size paper in a blue cover and may be folded like a insurance paper. Check the Republican Nonpariel for any hospital listings for the date of birth of your relative. Check also surrounding newspapers ie Grand Island. Are there any other relatives that may be able to share information? None of mine were anxious to talk; neither adoptive or natural. Register with adoptives in search. It has been so long since I have done this that I have no addresses. There are registries out there where natural parents and adoptive children can register and may be you can get a match that way. As I think of other things that I did, I'll let you know. You may even check high school year books and see if any one has any likeness to your relative. Almost nothing is too far fetched to give a try.
Good luck and I wish you the best and I will stay in touch

adoption records in the state of NE are sealed. In order to open the records one needs death certificates for the adoptive parents and the natural mother. I too was adopted in Merrick county in 1947 and have searched for natural family. I have not been able to get my records because my natural mother is still living. If there is some way I can be of help let me know. There may be some other options depending on what you are looking for.

Meadowlark,

From what you have told me here, you must be related to my aunt then, assuming this is the one she is looking, which I am pretty sure is correct. The names are right, and so is the information about her being a teacher. She is a Leytham. She was married to my father's brother (Lyle Larson). On my father's side ... my roots are Crescent, and Underwood, Iowa. I am my father's (Raymond Larson) only daughter, and he had only one brother (they are both gone now). The names being Larson (tho we're Danish, not Swedish), Dutrow, Meneray and Smith (what I've been able to hone in to so far). I have more Larson information than I have mentioned here, but just wanted to give you a bit of background so you can understand how you and my Aunt Alta might be related.

As for Buffalo County, you may be able to help me in another way then. I used to live here in Kearney over 25 years ago, and now am back living here again. My family roots are Sumner, Eddyvile, Miller and Kearney ... on the maternal side. The names include Spellmeyer (Mom's maiden name), Barnebey (or Barneby, I've seen both spellings) Line, Simmons, and Warren (as far as I have found so far). I have been told stories about my grandparents (or maybe great grandparents) had the very first hotel here in Kearney. I have a photo of my Grandma when she was young standing by a beautiful piano, and don't know where it was taken. I have met a man here in Kearney who's great-grandfather and my grandfather were brothers, and I understand they they were from a family of something like 15 or 18 children (some which died quite young). This man is a Simmons, my grandfather was a Spellmeyer.

What a tangled web we weave, when looking generations back. I'm excited to have made some contacts to be able to trace my family tree, especially since I am the end of the line (although I do have a daughter and grandson, no sons). She is not too much interested in my side of the family but perhaps that will change since she is a mother now. Time will tell.

If you would like to email me direct, use the name here at Yahoo.

You are a very interesting person, and it looks as though we may be related, by marriage ... smiles.

Have a wonderful day!

Nancy

Hi VerbalPearl,

FELLWOCK is one of my surnames of interest. First, it's a rare name; three brothers came to the US, and 2 of them married SASSE, a direct-ancestral name -- so, most of the US FELLWOCKs are related to me. Both of those families, along with OERTWIG, came from the same village in Brandenburg, Prussia, and have intermarried a lot there and in the US.
I also host the USGenWeb pages for Buffalo County, Nebraska, where my ancestors have lived for over 100 years.

My complete database, which contains a lot of non-related people, is at WorldConnect
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=monahouse...
and my own family genealogy website is at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~monajo/

I'm glad I could answer your question about Katie. In fact, your question prompted me to dig a little deeper, so I thank you.

Hi,
Mrs. Raymond Fellwock was Katie Hansen, according to Amherst High School records, which list her in the class of 1926. She died in 1995, according to Social Security Death Index, last residence was Grand Island.

According to my records, they had no children.

In looking through census records, Katie was probably the dau. of George and Alice Hansen. George was born in S.D. about 1875, and Alice was b. in Iowa about 1875. They were in/near Amherst in 1920. In 1930, Alice was at Hampton, in Hamilton county-- not far from Merrick Co. Katie Hanson was teaching school in Buffalo County in 1930, her parents were born in S.D. and Iowa. In 1920 Katie was listed as "Hannah C. Hansen"; in 1930 as "Katie H. Hanson."

Hope that helps. :>
Mona

Stalker, 1881 to Nov. 1958

I've been to the Archer Evangelical Community Cemetery to find the graves of the Stalker family. Stalker was
Nina May Kronkright.

Is it possible the Stalkers were buried in the Kronkright plot without a marker, or am I just going blind?

Would the adjoining church have those records or does anyone have information regarding the family's burial?

This isn't my family, it's a genealogy favor for a Stalker relative who lives outside the USA. She insists the family is indeed buried there.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ann
Try again - it will be worth the effort. Having a copy of a platt map might help. The cemetery is between Polk and Hordville. Find Covenant Ceders Camp. A little north of there is the "river road". Go east. The cemetery is not visible from the river road. You need to take a road/lane north toward the river off of the river road. The cemetery is small and fenced. There is a gate that is/was marked. That cemetery has went by 2 names - Foster Cemetery and Bluff Cemetery. The cemetery is on a bluff. It is a beautiful area when you get there. Very few stones in a pasture setting. It is sometimes mowed this time of the year but as a general rule is unkept. Good luck finding the cemetery.

Not sure if the cemetery is in Polk Co or Hamilton Co. You might want to see if the libraries in Polk or Aurora have the "readings" of the county cemeteries on file.

I enjoyed your message. Herman Zillmann was my grandfather. He was the oldest of the children and is in the center of the back row on the family picture. My great-grandparents were Julius and Bertha Beyer Zillmann. Julius Zillmann's parents were August Zillmann, Sr. and Emilie Hackbarth Zillmann. August and Emilie had a son August Jr. (California), another son Julius, a daughter _____ Zunker, etc. I have a lot of information on this family. I have to pull out my family tree information. The place of Julius Zillmann's birth (in Pommerania or Pommern) is now Poland, but when I was in Germany, they gave me the new Polish town name where Julius was born. Julius' mother is buried in Cibolo and his father is buried in New Bremen, Texas -- I have been to that cemetery. There is a picture of Bertha's mother in the family -- I have it on a CD. Let me know if you are interested in pursuing this any farther. There are two cousins Joyce Mattke Falor and Alice Schaefer Markle who are also presently working on this family tree. Also, a Keith Zamzow has contacted me and is working on the Beyer Family tree. You may have heard from these people. I knew Aunt Ella and Uncle Johnny Hehs. He built the Schaefer home (Alice's parents -- now deceased). Great to hear from you.

I have an aunt (by marriage) who is in her 90s now, and Katie is (or was) a cousin, and she lost contact with her so I am trying to see if she is gone now, as she was 10 years older than my aunt. Any information would be appreciated. May aunt's maiden name is "Leytham", and she is from the Council Bluffs, Iowa area. The last she knew Katie Fellwock lived in Grand Island, and her husband's name was Raymond.

Her husband Patrick died before 1900, and she went to school to become a physician. I found a listing for her in the Nebraska State Gazetteer and Business Directory for 1917 listing her as Logan, J.
It is so great to get a reply to my request for more information about the Zillmann family. I would love to have ALL the information you have! So far, Joyce Falor has been my main source of information. She just sent me a wonderful CD of photos!
I haven't heard from K. Zamzow in quite awhile. There for awhile I got too busy to answer all my emails.
"Aunt Ella" was my mother's mother, and my mother is of course Uncle Johnny's brother.
Please let Joyce Falor know that I'm still alive, back into climbing on the Pommern tree! Her photo CD was great. I'd love to know the current name of the town where Julius was born- and see a photo of Bertha's mother! Ask her for cousin Donna Russell's email address! (I don't like to post it on large groups like this)
Glad you found me on this message board!
