Mr. and Mrs. Giles Hunter

I'm looking for obits and gravestone info/photos for Giles Hunter and his second wife Belinda (Nausler) Libby. Giles (sometimes Jiles) C. Hunter was born 4/10/1852 in Iowa and lived in Battle Creek from 1910 or earlier. He died 6/7/1933 and is buried in Union Cemetery. There is a Jiles Hunter in the 1930 census listed as an inmate, this may or may nor be he. The cemetery listing on the Madison Co. website has his birth year as 1842, I believe this is an error. I would love to have an obituary for Giles.

Giles married my great grandmother Belinda C. Nausler (often Malinda, often Nauslar) March 14, 1893 in Antelope Co., Belinda was born about 1847 in Iowa and died 9/16/1904 in Norfolk. She was buried 9/18/1904, I don't know where. I would love to have a copy of her obit from Norfolk Daily News 9/19/1904, page 4. Would also value a photo of her grave.

Thanks for any help

Ottillia Anna Laur-Williams is missing!

Discovered my grandfather, Leo Lloyd Williams had married Ottillia Anna Laur and no one in the family new about her or the marriage. When visiting Norfolk this past fall I found their marriage certificates in the Madison County Court House. Sometime between 1911 and 1920, something happened to Ottillia. Can someone in the Norfolk area help me find out what happened to her. I sent a request to Lincoln for a death certificate and that came back with no record on her. Maybe they were divorced?

I am researching the Reeves family from Ontario who settled in Tilden and Madison areas. Family includes Luke, Robert, and Caroline (Smith is her married name) born in the 1830s and 1840s in Brighton, Sussex, England. They emigrated to Wellington County, Ontario with their parents. As adults they moved to Nebraska.

Jeanette

I believe they both died in Norfolk, NE, she in August 1973 and he in January 1982. I'd like to find obituaries, photos, living relatives, or other information. I am also interested on any other information on their parents families. I know Byrd's brother Strohm died near Chadron, NE on 25 September 1914 and was buried in Norfolk. I do not know who Franklin Bernhardt's parents were. Thank you!

In the course of looking for Zuelow (my materna grandmother's people), I find an odd thing. When I search (in Ancestry.com) on Zuelow in all census years for Nebraska, I first get 14 hits in 1900. Then for 1910 they are all gone but one. Then in 1920 there are a very similar 14 back again.

Has anyone else run across something like that or has anyone already found the explanation? I'm certainly curious.

Regards,

Jim Weeks

William George Searles

I am looking for information on my gg grandfather William George Searles. The last information I have on him was that he was living with his wife, Elizabeth, and son, George in Central, Knox, Nebraska in 1880 (US Census). However, Elizabeth passed away 2 Aug 1906 at the Nebraska Hospital for the Insane in Norfolk NE and was buried in the Asylum Cemetery on 3 Aug 1906.

William (who often went by George) was about 20 years senior to Elizabeth so I figure that he probably passed away prior to her, so either at Central or in Norfolk. However, I don't have any leads which say that is correct. He may be buried at teh Asylum Cemetery, but I don't know if that is true either...

I would appreciate any assisstance anyone could provide!

Cheers

Jerry Sehlke
Idaho Falls, ID

I am trying to find marriage information on Selma (Sissa) Johnson, daughter of John and Nella Johnson of Shell Creek/Newman Grove and Aaron Anderson. I know that Aaron (a widower who had previously been married to Amanda Long) was listed as a boarder in the home of F. Widergren in Shell Creek, Madison Co., NE in the 1900 census and Selma was listed as a servant. By 1904 they were living in Odobolt, IA and had a daughter, Florence Ester. In 1905 they had a daughter Eleanore, who died and was buried in Shell Creek Cemetery in Newman Grove in 1910. Selma died 25 Apr 1906 and is also buried in Shell Creek Cemetery. Any information regarding the marriage and obituaries for Selma and Eleanore would be greatly appreciated.
I am seeking any information regarding my mother Valeska Elizabeth Glenn, born March 4, 1909, Missouri Valley, IA.
She was the daughter of Cornelia Teigeler Glenn and Guy E. Glenn. They moved to Nebraska and their Norfolk, NE address for over 25 years was 1004 Pasewalk Avenue. Guy Glenn was an engineer for the Northwestern Railroad Company for many years.
I believe she had cousins named Armbruster, also from Norfolk.
Valeska married Lloyd C. French and Harold Wachter, both of Norfolk.
I would appreciate hearing from any party that has information regarding her life prior to her marriages, e.g., childhood, high school, etc.. She passed away when I was 14 and there are no known relatives left alive on her side of the family. She would be 94 if alive today. I have found one person the same age who did know her in high school but was not close to her and did not have a lot of information.
Cornelia (Cam) French

D. Boyer died Tuesday evening after a week's illness with pneumonia. The funeral service, conducted by Rev. R. J. Callow, was held this (Thursday) afternoon at the Methodist church and interment was made at Union cemetery. Six little playmates officiated as pallbearers.
>An exceptionnally bright lad, Alvin was a favorite in the home and was loved by his playmates and teacher. A pathetic incident is related in connection with his death. When he realized that his end was near, he requested, among other things, that someone should tell his teacher goodbye for him, thus exhibiting his characteristic trait of thinking of others rather than himself.

He was born June 23, 1820, and died January 21, 1911, being 90 years old. He was married to Miss Polly Busic, March 30, 1844. Unto this union ten children were born, eight of whom survive him. Part of them had been here before, and naturally enough the temptation to return was irresistable. Joe Boyer, a brother of Robert, his wife and two children, and Messrs. James Boyer, Con. Sexton, Seabert Porter and Willie James, all young men, formed the company. James Boyer will only remain here a week or two to visit relatives, then going on to Colorado. All the others will stay permanently. Joe Boyer is looking for a farm to rent and will no doubt get a good one with help of our real estate men. Nebraska soil is enriching a goodly sprinkling of Grayson county people, but there is yet room for several millions more....
