Schmittgens in/near Gandy

My great uncle has told me that a branch of our
family moved out to Gandy in the late 1800's.
We found pictures from 1892 & 1893. I know that
one of John's children was drug by a horse and
killed when he was only five or six years old.
My great uncle, grandmother and great grandparents
visited the site of the grave in the 40's or 50's
and they said it was on an old farm house and they
had to ask permission to go back to view it. The
family moved back to Ohio by 1900. If there is any
record of Schmittgens in Gandy or Logan County, that'd
be great. We also looked in all of the cemeteries around
the area and couldn't find the grave marker.
