If you don't get a response to your request for the Miller Obituaries you might contact the North Platte Library.

They have a lot of obits already on file cards and also the microfilms of the North Platte Newspaper which would cover that area.

Very helpful and not at all expensive.

Sorry that I can't help as I live out of state now but be sure to try them. You should be able to get an address and a phone number thru an online directory. If my memory serves me correctly they are on West 4th Street, probably the 1 or 2 hundred block.

All died I believe in Lincoln Co,possibly all in Brady or nearby.All are buried at the Antelope Valley Cemetery.

The Sutherland Cokers appear to be a different family. William Stewart "Stew" Coker from Sutherland wrote a book about his life, It Happened In Cow Country. In it he says his Father was William Sherman Coker and his grandfather was John Coker, an Englishman who came to Nebraska in 1884.

You might try the North Platte Library. They have some people doing Genealogy there.

Ernest and Cora Bradley are buried in the North Platte Cemetery in case you need the dates.

In the 1930 Census it says Frank was working for the Railroad so I tried the SSDI for a Fran* Bradley that the SS Card was issued by the railroad.

Found the below. It was the only one that was a 1910 or 1911 birth. Then I asked for a FRAN* b. the same date and card issued in Nebraska. Don't know if this your Frank and Francis but you might send for a death certificate for one or both to make sure.

Thank you so very much for checking on this for me, I appreciate it so much. Lelia was my aunt and Luretta was my mother, I heard stories from them as I was growing up about them working as nurses - for some reason my mother did not continue as long as Lelia, she was afraid for some reason at the hospital. I would love any info, pictures or whatever you might have. I do have their census info for those years and I do only find Lelia actually living away from home while working at the hospital - just could never find info on the hospital. Again, thank you so much for your time and effort on this and for offering to send photos, would love to have them. If there is anythin I can lookup for you here in CA or otherwise, please let me know and I will be glad to do it.

Hi Darlene,
I checked census records and found the whole family on the census in 1920 in Broken Bow, Custer Co. Nebraska. It's a neighboring county to us here in North Platte, Lincoln County. I then looked in the 1930 census and only found Lelia as a nurse. The house she was living in still stands today. It's a big beautiful stone house on a corner and the Platte Valley Hospital building is also still standing. She lived only one block from the hospital. It wouldn't surprise me that Luretta would of been a nurse also at the same hospital. North Platte had several neighborhood hospitals at that time. Luretta just wasn't on the 1930 census with Lelia. Don't know where she was. Do you want pictures of the house and hospital buildings. It wouldn't be a problem for me to get them to you. I live only a couple of blocks from both of them.

Sheldon was the police chief here in North Platte when he was shot and killed by some guys trying to rob a place. There is alot of information about him if you want copies. I was wondering why they called him Charlie Rose. That's the first I've heard of it and I thought I knew alot about the man.

In the 1910 census for Hayes Co, NE, there are what appears to be 3 generations of Simon Lewis's there. Hayes Co., is directly below Lincoln County & south of Wallace.
Also, The Morning View Cem. is the main one for Wallace, it is 2 miles south of Wallace, but I don't think it's been transcribed yet. My wife has relatives from that area. but not related to your Lewis's. Hope this helps you.

The city of Lincoln is located in the southeastern part of the state and is located in Lancaster County.

Frank A. Kumor, 93, of North Platte, passed away Sept. 30, 2008, at Linden Court.
He was born May 26, 1915, to Joe and Anna Kiolabasa Kumor at Silver Creek. In 1920, his family moved to Perkins County in a railroad boxcar that included cows, crates of chickens and other family belongings.
On Aug. 21, 1940, Frank married Arline Beck at Grant. They had just celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. In 1954, they moved from Perkins County to a farm west of North Platte.
He was a member of St. Patrick''s Catholic Church, a 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus and a longtime member of the Lincoln County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his wife Arline and daughter Carol M. Green both of North Platte; sons Frank J. (Patricia) Kumor of Bellevue and Neil A. (Anne) Kumor of Iowa City, Iowa; brother Leon (Charlotte) Kumor of Grant; sisters Josephine Foy of Otis, Colo., and Victoria Kumor of Grant; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a great great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Loretta Rose Kumor, brother Daniel Kumor, sisters Mary Casimir Kumor and Rose Krajewski and son-in-law Richard Green.
Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick''s Catholic Church or the North Platte Catholic Schools Endowment Fund.

The Simon R Lewis I am primarily seeking was born 18 May 1880 and died or was buried Aug 27 1912 (I have only a Bible transcription for the date of death) His father was born Jan 16 1847 and died Aug 11, 1927 Simon R Lewis 1880-1912's mother was Susan Caroline Armstrong Lewis 1849-1918 and should be buried there too. They were born and raised in that area mostly Hayes Co and Lincoln Nebr. My grandmother was born in Havelock and most of all her brothers and sisters were born there or near there as well. any help at all, even clues to help me search would be so appreciated. I have a Trache tube and libraries about kill me with the dust and mold etc. I cough my head off. But I will go there if I have to, I am determined to find this info on them. haha. Thank you!

Unfortunately, there are no known photographs of the construction. These pictures would be incorporated into a history of the high school which is available on the alumni web site. Could you tell me more about this Walter Coker? I am searching for a Walter Owens Coker who was born 16 Jun 1895 in Indian Territory which is now present day Oklahoma. His father was a Joseph Peyton Coker. This Coker family moved from Georgia to Comanche, Texas in 1840 to 1850. The last record I found for Walter Owens Coker was in Santa Barbara, California where he registered for the WWI draft. He was married and had one child. He is also on the California voting list in Santa Barbara but not found on the list in 1920 or after. He possibly died in California before 1920 but since I saw your reference to the name Peyton and Walter Coker; I decided to ask.

What is the connection between your Peyton family and the Coker family?

Velma Mae and John Elmer Dike are my grandparents. My Father ( David) was the 13th child out of Velma and John's 15 children. Most of my Aunts and Uncles still live in Scottsbluff, or around that area. I have around 75 first cousins. I have to say I am really surprised to see a post asking about them. I have information for you on the Sopers. I have obits for both Gurney and Evelyn. Their daughter Joy married a man by the name of Virgil Adle. Virgil's phone number is 308-532-9737. There are no Adle's listed in the North Platte Cemetery. They owned Crawford Electric for alot of years here in North Platte. There is also a Pat Adle in the phone book, 308-534-9867. I don't know if he's relation. Hope this helps.

I too would like very much to find someone to take photos of my numerous family members in the North Platte City Cemetery on Rodeo Road. There are quite a few Faulkners, Forsythes, and Birks there...one of my great-aunts buried there was Gertrude Faulkner Goldsmith. She died around the age of 20 circa 1920 when her only child was about 4 months old. Her husband is not buried with her, and I've often wondered what became of him? The North Platte Cemetery is now on line thru the Main North Platte Site. Try google and ask for North Platte Cemetery and it should show up. If not, email me directly and I will give you the URL for it.

Also, my suggestion would be to try the North Platte Library for an obit. Lots of them are on card files and the charge is minimal.

Greetings from Farnam, NE which is about 7 miles east of Ingham.

My family homesteaded 3 miles north of later to be location of Ingham, NE and I have always had an interest in the village and its inhabitants.

My husband Kenneth Stevens published a book in 1982 about Ingham and I am currently indexing it and preparing for a second publication. If you are interested let me know.

I have a vested interest in England. The family that I spoke of above had a connection in England. My Great-grandfather Thomas Thompson came to the USA sometime after 1851 (he's on the census) and 1861, when he fathered a child in Iowa. I have not been able to locate his passage. He was born and raised in Womersley, West Riding, Yorkshire. His parents are buried at St. Martin's parish church in Womersley along with his sister Ruth. He was the only one that we know for certain came to the USA. There possibly is an older brother John but not able to obtain absolute data for him.

At this URL <http://www.wjh.us>; there is posted information about the Thompson family through letters written to Thomas by his sister, Hannah Thompson Wordsworth of Friar Wood, Pontefract.

My paternal grandmother was adopted by Charles Franklin Yaudes (b. 1882, PA; d 1969, NE) and Lucy Pearl (MNU) in the mid to late 1920's. My grandmother was listed on the 1930 census with them. Lucy Pearl's birthplace was listed as Nebraska in the 1930 census. She is listed as Pearl on both the 1930 census and the Riverview Cemetery listing.

Does anyone know the contact information for the cemetery? I would like to see if they have any records, as I know little about the people who raised my grandmother. I would like to find out my great grandmother's birth and death dates, as well as who her parents were. I am sending for her birth certificate also. All my grandmother could remember was that her mother died when my grandmother was in her teens.

To complicate matters, my grandmother passed away last February.

I live in Oregon, so I would like to find someone who would be willing to act as my "legs" and do a little looking for me, maybe take a photo of the gravesite/marker. I am more than willing to pay for their services.

I found Everett Clellen McGuire, born 11 April 1894 in Wellfleet, Perkins Co, Nebraska. Could this be the man your aunt married?

There was also an Edward Roscoe McGuire, born 1 November 1886 in Fremont, Perkins Co, Nebraska, died Jan 1982. He is buried in Elsie Cemetery, Elsie, Perkins Co, NE along with his wife, Frances whose maiden name is unknown, b. 1779, d. 1979. They are the only 2 McGuire's in this cemetery. Roscoe was in Lincoln Co, NE in 1930.

Does anyone have access to complete 1900 and 1910 Census Records for Nebraska?

I am looking for David or Daniel McNamara, Mary "Emma" (also went by Emma M." McNamara children were Mary Hazel (also went by Hazel M), Earl D, Mabel A, ?Jasen W. and Charles.

May 5, 1916 Emma and at least one daughter lived in Kearney, NE. I am sure other family members lived there as well. Other members are not mentioned in the newspaper article I have.

All the children were born in Nebraska except Charles. Mary Hazel was born in Maxwell, Aug 18, 1898.

Charles was 22 in 1914 according to his marriage license.

Emma was born Sept. 1, 1869 but often was not honest about her age on census records.

In 1920, the family lived in Union, Gregory County, South Dakota.

Charles was my G-Grandfather. Per an obit of my G-Grandmother he died11-28-1917. Other than the obit, I can not find any other information to substanciate this fact. He married my G-Grandmother in Omaha in 1914. My Grandfather was born July 1915.

Any assistance with locating this family during this time frame would be greatly appreciated!

There are two graves for babies in the same section and lot which may be
for the children of Louis and Willia. They are numbers 8 and 8A. When I
found Willia and Louis on the 1930 census they have been married 10 years
but had no children enumerated with them. I think Louis' parents may
also be in the same section. If it isn't too much trouble would you get
photos of their grave markers also?

My husband and I were at the cemetery in June and got pictures of Casper
and Elvan Rauch's graves but I didn't think to check the cemetery website
by searching for his daughters by their first names which are a little
unusual.

By any chance do you do look ups in the local newspaper? I would be
interested in locating obits/death notices for the above.

Her death in this article lists her death as July 9, 1884. Her name before marriage was Hars. They had a stock ranch at Fort Robbinson area. Why wouldn't her husband label her grave better than that. Not knowing her birth date, I suppose.

Hello Pete in Lincoln....I looked in the index and there is no mention of Lena teaching there but that doesn't mean she didn't. Did note in her obit online that she had taught in Moorefield and Dickens areas. Do you know if she taught a rural school or in the village of Ingham school?

Have you looked in Lincoln county records in North Platte for the teacher registrations for that time period? Would be interesting to know who some of her students were.

I'm in need of assistance in trying to locate the family of Thomas J. Adams and Susan (Hagey) Adams. He was born about 1869 in Missouri and Susan was born in 1864, Nodaway Co., Missouri. They were married in Nodaway Co, MO in 1896.

Thomas and Susan had the following children:
1. Lester, b Oct 1896
2. Gilbert, b Feb 1898
3. Everett, b Aug 1899
4. Stanley, Sr, b 1902
5. Audra, b 1904 (only daughter)

1900 census has them still in Nodaway Co., MO. 1910 census has them in Keith Co., NE. 1920 and 1930 census has them in North Platte.

The 1930 census lists them with the following occupations: Thomas was a Contractor/Builder. Son Stanley, Sr was an Operator/Motion Pictures. Son Gilbert was a Conductor/Steam Railroad. Son Everett was a Carpenter/Building. Son Lester was a Car Inspector/Steam Railroad.

Also from the 1930 census, I have the first names of their wives, but no maiden names or dates of marriage. I do not know when or where Thomas and Susan died. I also do not know who and when their daughter Audra was married.

If anyone has access to cemetery and marriage records, I'd really appreciate your looking these names up for me. Any leads so to the whereabouts of this family would be greatly appreciated.

I had no luck in my search for Jacob W Smith in the 1880 Census search, However, I did find an Abraham Smith, B:abt 1815, his wife-Mary J, B:abt 1817 in the 1870 Census for Albany Township, Gentry County, MO. Abraham had a son, John W Smith living in his home. John W Smith was b:1839-40 in Ohio. John's wife was named Angeline, B:abt 1848 (age was hard to read, i read it as 22). John & Angeline had 3 children at the time of the sensus- George W- age 9, Abraham- age 4 & Emily- age 2.
McFalls, MO is in Gentry County, MO.
I would suggest trying to do some research via genweb or other search engines for Gentry Co., Missouri.

Thanks anyway! I had tried the Gentry Co., Missouri genweb with no success. It seems that this family is virtually untraceable as I've tried just doing a general search for them on the whole of the US in the 1880 census and couldn't find them. I have found Jacob on the social security death index so I will try that route next, expensive though it is. Thanks again!

I had previously been told by family members that Jacob had been born in McFall, Missouri but as the surname is so common and it has been reported that Jacob's father was in some trouble with the Jesse James gang, the Smith family has been impossible to track down. I've been told by relatives that his mother's name was Angelina (her maiden name is not known as it has been said that she was on her third marriage when she married Smith). His father's name is unknown as my relatives have only ever referred to him as "Smith". In fact, it is believed by my family that Smith wasn't even his real name as relatives believed that he had been in trouble with the law elsewhere and had changed his surname before marrying Angelina. If the family was in Nebraska at the time of the 1880 census, there may be one other clue to identifying the family, as Jacob William Smith had one brother who was about 4 years younger (born around 1878) named Lemuel. I would really appreciate any help in finding them as tracking this family has been so frustrating because there has been no trace of them and because the surname is so common. I have also seen one record of Jacob William Smith's name listed as John H. Smith but his obit lists him as Jacob William Smith and I believe that it is his name. Thanks in advance for your help!

Francis was born in 1925. Andrew might have been Andrew William Stellman my grandmothers brother. Does the photo have a n Ethel Sharp or Southhall in it? My dad's family moved to Oregon in 1937. I have some old photos of my dads side of the family. Of course none of them are label that go back to the turn of the century. I haven't worked them over yet to figure out if they are Stellman's or Anderson's. I am interested in anything you could share.

A Charles Chiniquy, along with his wife and four children, showed up on the 1880 census for Lincoln, Nebraska. Does anyone have any information on Charles or his family, except for what is on the census report.

Chiniquy is Basque and French-Canadian and the Chiniquy line did immigrate from Quebec to Kankakee, Illinois and a number of males did carry the name of Charles but I have no idea who this Charles is.

Hi, i saw your query, so i thought i would respond.
Yes the Cemetery is well maintained and pictures should be possible. The cemetery is about 1 mile south of Sutherland on hiway 25 south. or if traveling on I-80, you would turn south off of the exit, follow the road past the gas station, it bends to the right, and you will see it on your right just before going up the hill towards the resivoir.
I grew up in Sutherland, currently I live in Omaha, but i go back there on occasion, my parents are also buried in that cemetery.

Also, if you have any time, I would appreciate any information that you find on Washington and Rebecca Hinman or Vaughan and Minnie Hinman or Fred and Marie (Koberg) Distel or Henry Koberg. I have quite a bit of information on Washington and Rebecca but little on Fred and Marie Distel and they lived in North Platte for alot of year. Just let me know how much I owe you. I, too, am a relative of Caroline Lucinda Willey. She was married to Alvah Silverthorn and had, among other children, John Wesley Silverthorn, my great grandfather. They were divorced and she married George Cushman Willey and had a second family Later she lived in Wisconsin with her daughter Hattie Jane Silverthorn Ostrom and died there.

Lucy and I have exchanged information. I'd be happy to have any information you might have and would be happy to send you any on the Willey family that I have.

My Great Grandfparents were Thomas and Viola, their son George was my Great Grandpa. I have a little information that another person did research on before she passed away, would be glad to share what I have.

I am in the middle of census searches, after Viola died in 1903 I did not find Thomas with the kids on census. In our city directories in North Platte I have found a couple of their kids later living here.

I am originally from a town 6 miles from Hershey, Nebraska & have ancestors buried in the area. There were several Jacob Smith's in Lincoln Co. Ne in the 1880 census. Perhaps if you could provide more details about his parents or siblings if any. It would help to narrow down the search.

There is a Deer Creek Precinct in Lincoln County, NE. It is a Census Enumeration Didtrict. Of which your Elizabeth Lawrence is listed as living there on June 6, 1900. She is found in the census under Deer Creek Pct. ED-149, sheet 2A.
Lincoln County, NE. It shows her as being born in Ohio, March 1819. a widow, and the Mother in law of Issac Folden ?
I'm not related to this family, but I am originally from Lincoln Co., NE. Not sure where in the county Deer Creek PCT. is located.

There was a Dedmore that lived in the 500 block of South Vine Street in North Platte in the fall of 1967. I believe it was William Dedmore's widow. Don't know anything else, but you might check the city directory for that year.

In the 1930's my aunt, Lelia Harbert worked at a hospital in North Platt or Lincoln Nebraska called The Valley Platt Hospital. I have a picture of her with other nurses in front of the hospital. Hi Ladonna, I just read your query and was curious about your ggg-grandfather. We have a large selection of microfilms here at the North Platte Public Library. I set down and searched in August of 1900 for anything about Martin's death. I really didn't expect to find anything. The newspapers back then came out only once per week. Not all of them survived to make it to the microfilm. Anyway, I got lucky. I found an article on Friday, August 24th, 1900. I will type it up for you if you send me your e-mail address. I also found his cemetary record in Wallace, Nebraska. Wallace is in the southern corner of Lincoln, County. There are two others buried along side of him. Both are males and died young. They are probably his sons. I also found the marriage record for Martin and Emma. I have found nothing on Emma yet. I'm still looking. Let me know if you want copies of these things. I charge .25cents per copy and a 10$research fee.
