I am searching for descendents of these settlers
Early settlers of Keith County were the Mannons and later Forrest Mannon. Forrest Mannon & Oscar James Mannon were brothers.
Oscar James Mannon & Margaret Lucretia Mannon (nee Grigsby) had six children: Louis Melvin, Bertha, Isabelle (Belle) Frances, Edith, George Oscar, Oscar Jr., & Jimmy who died in infancy & is buried in Ogallala. The above Isabelle is my grandmother and the oldest child above is my Great Uncle Louie (Louis.) My Uncle Louie always returned to Keith County annually to visit Lester & Nora (Mannon) Robinson. Is Nora a daughter of Forrest?
My grandmother, the above Isabelle, was born July 24, 1891, in a sod house near Keystone.
The story we know is that Oscar and his brother, Forrest, homesteaded near Keystone, NE. Oscar got sick, and his wife, Margaret, told her oldest son, the above Louis, he had to go into town for the doctor. She tied Louis onto the horse, as he was only 11 years old and had to cross the Platte River. She told him to cross the river, find the RR tracks and turn west to get into town. Louis made it, and brought the doctor back. The doctor said there was nothing that he could do for Oscar, and that he needed to go to the hospital in Omaha. They tied Oscar into a rocking chair and loaded him on a train in the baggage car and sent him to Omaha. He died before he got there. (We dont know why the baggage car, if anyone went with him, or other details). Oscar died at age 37 from an abscessed liver.
I believe there is another Isabell Mannon who lived at Keystone or Ogallala. Who is she related to?
