Hi Misty,
I have a copy of the book "History of St. Michael's Parish, 1886-1986. It was included in my mother's things when she died in 2006. Here is the entry for the James Murphy Family:
James Arthur Murphy was united in marriage to Katherine Hannah Cunningham on November 6, 1895 at St. Michael's Church in Spalding. They lived on a farm near Akron until 1910 when they moved to a farm near Spalding. Eight children were born to this union: Arthur married Ethel brown, Thomas married Marie sullivan, Nora married John Zeplin, Joseph married Hazel Wray, Jerome married Helen Connelly, Mary married Carl Boisseree, frank married Ruth Gibbs and John married Patricia Gotwol. James A. Murphy was born on June 2, 1871 in Wisconsin and died November 5, 1934. He is buried in Calvary Cemetery. Mary Boisseree is the only member of the family still alive. She lives in Omaha."

I did not find any Cunninghams listed. Hope this helps - Keith
I was reading through old posts, and found this one. I'm wondering if you gained information about the Kleins from the source mentioned. My paternal gr-gr-grandparents were named Klein, and lived in the Wolbach area. I have no information about them, other than my grandmother writing about taking the train to Wolbach when her grandparents died. That was the only way I knew to search for them in that area. I believe some of the family stayed in Clay Co, which is where my gr-grandparents lived.

Thank you for your efforts to jump-start me on this line. I found you were right - both Kenneth and Mabel remarried, both buried in Oregon. Jimmie died young, Warren died last year, I did a search and called chatted with the remaining son. He knows nothing of his grandparents and little of his parents.
You are generous in your time and effort. I will pass that along.

When you post, you should post that you have access to Ancestry.com (Although you did identify you hvae searched census records). If a person you seek is in your massive and well done posted family tree, attach a link to that person. It saves volunteers a lot of time and you don't get a lot of information that you already have.

Hi,

In 1900 they were living in Petersburg, Boone, NE.
George H. Brown, b. NY Feb 1865, thrasher & sheller.
Nellie, wife, b. KS Nov 1875, brolaw, teamster.

I didn't find Roy or any of the family in a 1910 Census. Wonder if Roy died young?

In 1920 the family was living in Cedar, Boone, NE.
George Brown, b. NY, 53, farmer.
Nellie M., b. KS, 48.
Mabel A., b. NE, 16.

In 1930 George and Nellie are living in Wolbach, Greenley, NE. All info the same except for their age.

George must have died after the 1930 but before the 1940 Census. The challenge in Nebraska is that they don't publish deaths during that era. You can order a copy of his death certificate from nebraska Dept. Health & Human Services, http://dhhs.ne.gov/publichealth/pages/vitalrecords.aspx.

In 1940 Nellie is living in Wolbach.
Nellie Brown, b.
Nancy, you may want to check with the Greeley Sacred Heart Church for the marriage records from the Church of the Visitation in O'Connor, for your Koch/Costello marriage.
And, I should think it likely that Herman/Albert's parents would be on that record.
Do you have a death cert for him? Depending on who provided the information, it may also have his parents' names and be correct.
There is more info in the Sacred Heart Book on the Costello families with photos. Richard was the son of Miles and Mary Lavelle Costello on which much additional information is written.
I also found the following on the USGenWeb site for Greeley Co NE:
1881 Tax list shows Miles and Richard Costello in the Spring Creek Pct.( very near the O'Connor Pct)
1900 NE State Census for O'Connor Pct shows:
Richard 51 b PA parents both born in IREland
Mary A 54 b PA parents both born in IREland
Mary 22 b PA
Annie G 20 b NE
John D 18 b NE
Thomas J 16 b NE
Rose 15 b NE
Clara 13 b NE
Richard 10 b NE
Laura 7 b NE
The 1911 Plat Map names show:
John Koch in the Spalding Precinct Section 4
MA Costello (Martin) O'Connor Pct Sec 10
Miles Costello O'Connor Pct Sec 22
R Costello O'Connor Pct Sec 10
Richard Costello O'Connor Sec 26

From the Sacred Heart Book pgs 398-404
This excerpt is on:
Richard and Mary Ann Callahan Costello, SR
Richard costello and Mary ann Callahan were married in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, on October 4, 1872.
About the year 1877, Bishop O'Connor organized a group of Irish Catholic coal miners to come to Central Nebraska (barren prarie). Richard was a member of the colony. They built a small town and named it O'Connor after this Bishop.
After staking out his farm, northeast of O'Connor, and building a sod house, Richard returned to Pennsylvania for his wife, Mary Ann, and two small daughters; two year old Mary (later Mrs. Martin Gibbons) and four year old Bridget (later Mrs Paddy Fitzpatrick). They had to go to Grand Island, 50 miles away, by ox team, to do their shopping.
Eight more children were born to them: Ellen, died at six months of age, Hanna (Mrs Bill Duffin); John; Tom; Rose (Mrs Herman Koch); clara (Mrs Robert Whalen); Richard and Margaret Loretta.
Grandpa Callahan came to live with them in 1892. He is buried in O'Connor.
Richard and Mary Ann moved to Greeley in 1910, when Richard Jr, and Stella Murphy were married. Mary Ann died Nov 2, 1916. Richard died June 9, 1919.

I do have the information. Rose's parents were the Costello's right? Do you have information on their parents? Herman/Albert Koch is the real mystery. Can't find anything on him. Do you have access to the records at Sacred Heart? Wondering if the marriage paperwork between Herman Albert and Rose have his parents name on it. My mom was told his name was Herman Otto Koch, born in 1877. I found Herman Koch born in 1881 and now your saying he is Albert Koch born 1879. Man, it's a mystery for sure. My mom has passed away, Herman/Albert was her grandfather. And no one has records of him. Thanks! Nancy

Robert, Thank you so much! Can't believe he's listed as Albert, born 1879. The 1910 census lists him as Herman, born in 1881. Weird.
Thank you!!! Hopefully I can track Albert.
Nancy

I am trying to find information about Herman Koch. I do know he married Rose Costello in 1908 at Sacred Heart Church, Greeley. I found the 1910 census that said Herman was born in 1881 in Germany and his parents were born in Germany. I can not find any more information about him. Would love to have his parents name or any information about Herman that you might have.
Thank you! Nancy Herbert

I was so pleased to find another piece of the family. My g'father, Earl Thomas Murphy, was the third son of Ed and Elizabeth (who my Dad always referred to as Lizzie) of Brayton. There were six children (an addition four died in childbirth or young). Earl passed in 1963 and the only relative I really knew of was his brother John (Jack). We lived in Omaha. My Dad, Dennis was Earl's oldest son. Earl married Louise Farrell of Greeley and they had 7 children.
Earl and Louise moved from Greeley to Omaha @ 1940. Uncle Jack worked for the railroad and lived there with his wife until the moved to AZ in the 60s.

want: Arthur & Edith Weber > Daniel Joseph Weber (of Spalding, Greeley, Omaha)

I am looking for information about my father, Daniel Joseph Weber, who would have attended/graduated from Sacred Heart in the mid-1930s. I know he entered Creighton University in 1936 and graduated from medical school there in 1942. His family (Arthur and Edith Weber) moved from Greeley to Omaha at that time. Prior to Greeley they lived in Spalding.

Too much information? Any help will be appreciated.

Dan Weber, Jr.

The Osentowskis came from Tarinow, Poland in the 1700's so it would be the old Tarinow. That area during world war2 was stormed by german soldiers and the jewish ghettos were empitied and all jews were taken to Aushwitz. Tarinow is now Tarnow in the southern most point of Poland. I am traveling this week but I know I could give you exact districts or areas they came from. Peter and Kate Osucha lived in Valley, NE I've never found out much about them. I tried Ellis Island records and came up pretty empty. I'd be happy to work on it more. Anything you can tell me about yourself I would love. Its all of us connecting together that will keep their lagacy alive. Keep me updated, Julie

My great grandparents are Alex Osantowski and Mary Osuha. Their son Frank is my grandfather. Frank married Pauline Dembowski in March 1908. They lived in the St Paul and David City area in Nebraska. Frank had 7 children, one of them is my father Henry Osantowski. I have more information if you're interested in this part of the family. I have nothing on the Osuha side about Mary's parents. Can you help?
My records show Alex as being from Prussia. Anything more specific? Was this in present-day Poland?
