I'm currently researching Willima Lincoln Stoughton who was born 11/22/1864 in IL and died 9/11/1902 in IN.

The 1990 Federal Census shows Lincoln (he used his middle name often) living in Elmwood and he was buried in the Elmwood Cemetery in 1902.

It is my understanding that W L Stoughton died in a railroad accident and I'm in hopes that there may be an existing newspaper item related to the accident . . .

I'd also very muck like to have a copy of any obituary or burial notices that may have been connected with this death. The widow was Effie May Stoughton. Are there public/cost free death certificates available in Gosper County?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!!

L C Smith (AZ)

I have been trying to find John Waller's parents for a long time and have been guessing his father may have been James. Is there documentation about James and Elizabeth? I am a descendant of John's brother Elbert, also born in Tennessee and migrated to Nebraska. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks,
Lynn

ETA: John Andrew (or Andrew John) was born in 1819 in Tennessee. His first wife was Susan and she died in 1888. Apparently he married Josephine in 1890 but then sadly he died in 1894 of blood poisoning. There is no mention of his family in the short obit I attached in my family tree.

Since it has been over five years since your request, you may have the information you need, but here is the little bit I have. I have been researching the Frazell/Lewis history and am a descendant of Charles Gilbert Lewis, the judge (known as "Wicked Gil") who married Mary Miles. I just visited her grave this week-end in the Elwood (Nebraska) cemetery. they were married only a little over a year when she died.

Refer to the Elwood (Nebraska) Bulletin, August 29, 1909, p. 5 for her obituary.

(C. G. Lewis) Married Mary Jane Corket Miles on July 8, 1908
(Widow of John Miles)
Born August 5, 1848
Died August 10, 1909
Buried at the Elwood (Nebraska) Cemetery beside her first husband
What year did George take in Mary as a servant? And where were they living when it happened? It would help to know when she was born. Also assume you mean the George Leonard Schrotberger who was son of Aaron and born in 1921, is that correct?

My grandmother was the daughter of Joseph Lauhead and Lora (Ellora) Hall, Roscina's older sister. Lora died about 6 weeks after giving birth to her daughter.

Joshua Hall and Mary Elizabeth Phillips married in Randolph Co., Indiana in or around 1870. She was the daughter of Elias Phillips and Rebecca Jane Cantrell, both residents of Randolph County. Elias served in the Civil War and died within about 4 months of returning home after being mustered out. As far as I know he was not wounded but weakened severely from malaria, diahhrea and other problems of poor sanitation.

Rebecca Jane's remarried after Elias death but died when she was about 46. Rebecca Jane was the daughter of Zebulon Cantrell, also of Randolph Co., Indiana.

The Phillips were of Welsh descent. They lived in western Ohio (maybe Preble Co, it's been a bit since I looked at any of this) and then in either Elias generation or his father's, moved into Indiana.

I know that Joshua Hall had an older brother, Peter, who also lived in Randolph Co. When I was researching this family I was not able to find the family they both came from with any certainty.

Let me know if you wish more details.

Which son of Joseph and Cina is your friend's father?

Peggy
