I am the oldest granddaughter of hers. Are you sure her name isn't Effie? My father, Cecil Butts died at age 51 of a heart attack. 1958. He was the youngest. Of course Uncle Leonard and Aunt Lucille are gone too. Both my sisters and youngest brother are gone. I have 3 brothers left. Lucille had 2 daughters. One is in Colo. and 1 in Cal. Hi. when I was young girl my family befrended and took in a young man in his 20's named Mel Goodenow. this was in the 60's. He passed away in 1983 at a young age, I don't really know his family, but my brother remembers a lot more then I do about him and where he was from. If you want me to find out, I will. I think he was in Arizona when he passed away.
He lived with us for many years. He was a great person. He became a brother to me even though he was much older.

I'm pretty sure Alice Marlow Conner was the daughter of William C Marlow[sr] and Zerilda J. Marlow. I have a 1900 census from Ida county Iowa. Listed as head of household: George W. Aduddell-age 44- and living with him: William C Marlow-age 69-(George's uncle), Zerilda J Marlow-age 67- (aunt) and their son: William C Marlow[jr]-age 24-(cousin). My brother and I are hoping to find William Marlow[sr] & Zerilda's grave, hopefully somewhere near Burwell Nebraska. I am looking to get the death record for Patrick QUINN who died sometime in 1897 and is buried in Erina Cemetery. I'm especially interested to see if Patrick's parents are listed on his death record, but because of the date this may be problematic. The QUINN and MURPHY families came to Garfield County, NE, around 1874 from Prince Edward Island, Canada, and Patrick was likely born in Ireland. It is my understanding that in Nebraska if the death occurred prior to 1904 then one should try contacting the county where the death occurred, and records that are 50 years old or older may be accessed for genealogy purposes. Is anyone versed in acquiring pre-1904 death record for genealogy purposes from Garfield County? Would any newspaper have carried his 1897 death notice or obituary that I could access? Any helpful information would be welcome and appreciated. Best regards, Bill

Thanks so much for this obit, Amanda. I have Conner & Matheny ancestors and know both families had lived in northern VA/WV prior to going to Monroe & Noble Counties, Ohio. But I didn't know when they made the migration en masse. Years later quite a few of them moved again into western WV. My Conner & Matheny ancestors are from Wood Co in WV & our family history records only them moving from Noble & Monroe Counties in Ohio.

Thanks for all the help. I have now found the marriage records from Viola Hetrick, Francis M Pace, Daniel Hetrick and Francis Collins. Do you know if the Nebraska State Library or Historical Society has a searchable date base for cemeteries or marriages? I am now looking for the burial place of Vera Hetrick Wyckoff. She doesn't seem to be buried with Winnie, her husband. Did she remarry after his death in 1936?

Hello,
I am looking for any info on Quintus Quick and his brother Henry. Also they had a sister who moved to Burwell, Harriet Elliot, w/o Edward C. Elliott. I believe all four died there. Edward d. 5 Feb 1937 and Harriet d. 26 June 1926. I found on the Mormon site that they did die in Burwell. In the 1920 census I found Quintus Quick living in Burwell. They all came from Crawford county, Wisconsin.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. I should also mention that Edward and Harriet had poss. 6 children,(I only have names of three), Edna Harriet (Hattie) m. George Burke, Agnes m. Frank Renault Summers and Albert m ?. They prob also lived in Burwell.

Daniel died 1912, buried Hillcrest Cemetery, Thedford, Thomas county, Nebraska, as is son, Walter E. Hetrick, died 1909.

Looking for the Daniel Hetrick family who were in Buffalo, Garfield, Nebraska in 1910. Francis A, his wife was from Nebraska. Olive age 14 born in Nebraska, Walter isn't with them in 1910 but he was born in 1899 in Oregon, possible Union County were they were living, Gerald age 5 and Vera age 3 both born in Nebraska. I can't find them in 1920. Are they still in Garfield county? Moved? Did they move to Garfield county because that is were Frances was from? Any help would be appreciated.

Was said that he left home and never returned. Is this the Clara I found listed in the Soc Sec Death Index: born 1897 died 1989 Burwell Garfield Co NE? What became of my Frank? He was the brother of my late grandmother Ida Irene (Graham) Gorball. Their daughter, my mother is still living. If I could find an obituary or death record for her and I have not found a listing for him in the SS Death Index so am assuming where- ever he went he may have used an assumed name or possibly left the US for parts unknown. I'm looking for information on an Alexander Stout. I'm trying to figure out if the Alexander Stout, one of the sons of my ancestors Joseph Stout and Susan Kelley, moved from Michigan to Nebraska. I have found an Alexander Stout living in Nebraska from 1880 until 1920. In the 1920 Census, he is living in Garfield County, but I cannot find him in the 1930 Census. All of the census information for this Alexander Stout fits the Alexander Stout that lived in Michigan up to 1875.
I think this Alexander Stout may have died in Garfield County. Would anyone know how to get a hold of a death record, or if a death record exists for an Alexander Stout between 1920 and 1930?

I have been researching the Freeman line. I found Jessie in Burwell and wondered if anyone has info on His parents, Samuel and America. I have some but not where they are buried. America died 17 May 1917. I know William P., Jessie and his wife Laura are in Cottonwood cemetery.
