Trying to find date of death and possible obit for Erick Norlander(1842-Sweden). Was living with daughter Lena and son-in-law Oscar Brestel in Chappell, 1920. Believed to have died in early 1920's. Cannot find him on Findagrave.com

Hi,

Neither Silas nor his son made it to nebraska. I read several family trees where they claim Silas Jr. was indeed the son of Silas Sr. Most cite "Sketches of Early Ohio Pioneers", prescott Hildreth and "Early Settlers in Rhode Island 1639 and in Ohio 1788" by Herbert Devol. Successful Searching!

Goggle the Nebraska State Historical Society in Lincoln, Nebraska. They have old newspapers of many counties available on microfilm by interlibrary loan.

I am familiar with the Chappell Register in Deuel County, Nebraska from 1950s. Don't know when it started. There may have been others or it may have gone by other names.

I was born in the next county over & recognize the Bergstrom name but do not have any information about them.

You are correct that she married Anton Lehn, They were my grandparents. I never meet either of them, Anton died when my dad was 2 weeks old. After that all of the kids were put into 2 different orphanages. Mabel then moved to the Chicago area and remarried, having many more children. My dad passed away in 2001 but my uncles and aunts are still alive. Anton is buried in Slinger WI at St. Peters cemetery. Mabel is buried somewhere in Illinois and my Uncle would know where. None of them were close to Mabel since they were put in the orphanage at a young age. Please email me if you need more info.

I am looking for an obituary for Ada Mattice, daughter of Gustavia and (I think) Carl Bergstrom, married to Harry Charles Mattice. She died in 1919, at some time after the birth of her twin daughters in February.

Hello Heidi. I am doing research on August Gehrke and Wilhelmina Kusserow. They were my husband's Great Grandparents. For Wilhelmina I have a copy of her will, her obituary and several pictures. They first moved to the Lincoln, Nebraska in 1883. They then settled in Big Springs, Nebraska and died there. I'd be happy to share if you are still interested.

I came across a message you wrote on the internet in April 2000 to K.B.Cook regarding the Mosher and Wilber families through Kitty Darlene Mosher Wilber. One of her sons, Stephen Wilber was my father-in-law. This connection is very exciting. Please feel free to contact us below. Last year I was able to visit the Hopeland Buda Cemetary in Buda IL where Kitty's parents and grandparents, etc are buried. I made gravestone rubbings and took lots of pictures. I've found a few bits of info here and there about him, but nothing that has been really helpful in terms of where he is buried. I've got census records, military records... Google is definitely a great resource!

Looking to find a death date and burial place for George P. Ewing, as well as the names of his six children who predeceased him.

George was born to Matthew and Sarah Ewing in Trenton, Oneida County, NY on February 17, 1844. He enlisted in Co. G of the 108th NY Volunteer Infantry in 1862, and was mustered out in 1865. In 1879, George moved from Rochester, NY to Chappell, Nebraska. He married a widow, Anna Shove, who had two children named Maude and Louis Shove. George and Anna had six children together. Anna Shove Ewing died in Chappell, NE.

I found a possible match for George Ewing in the Chappell, NE 1910 federal census, although his birth month and birth year are off. Hoping someone can tell me his death date and place of burial. Thanks!

Family of Ruby CHASE and James BROWN (early -mid 20th cent.)

Seeking information on the family of Ruby CHASE and James BROWN. Ruby Chase was the daughter of Newton Asbury Chase and Carrie Elsie LESLIE. Ruby was born about 1902 in Minnesota or Colorado and apparently married James Brown sometime in the 1920s.

Ruby Chase is a 3 X great granddaughter of Alexander NEGLEY (1734-1809) of Pittsburgh, PA and would have been my 4th cousin. I am working on a project to identify the descendants of Alexander Negley.

Ruby and James had three daughters: Arvilla Brown, b. 1926 (m. Ben FRY); Lois Brown, b. 1927; and Beverly Brown, b. 1929 (m. Neal JACKSON).

I have been unable to identify either Ben Fry or Neal Jackson in the U.S. Census.

I have been unable to identify the family in the 1930 census, but Ruby Chase was listed with her parents in Deuel Co., Neb. In the 1910 and 1920 census. A more detailed report on Ruby and her family is shown below.

I am in need of someone who might do some researching for me. I am trying to locate an Eveline (SHERMAN) LINCOLN born 1855 IL. Mother Phebe Augusta ?, father David Sherman.

1900 NE census shows mother and dau. in Park, Deuel Co.
The mother apparently remarried and her last name is unreadable. Looks like Easser/Erssev. Mother b. 1835.
Also in household is Eveline's son, Charles.

After this census I am unable to locate Eveline. I really need to find information for her. Family "stories" state she may have died in a house fire.

In 1909, Garden county was formed from Deuel county.
Lost Creek township is now Garden county. The town of Hartman is in Lost Creek township. Hartman is not on any map I have found.

Nicole, My best guess would be Mabel Kuckuk/Kuchuk, born 1910, WI, to George Kuckuk and Mary A. Scherr.
I note on the 1930 that Anton and Mabel name first two children: Mary and George. Location, names and age fits.

I am trying to find information on a woman named Mabel. I do not know her maiden name. She was born 1911 most likely in Wisconsin, possibly Washington County, WI. I also do not know her nationality or who her parents were. She married a man named Anton Lehn (b. 1902) They lived in Washington County, WI area. I believe at one point may have lived in West Bend, WI, or that area. Anton & Mabel had 7 or 8 children - 4 boys, 4 girls. They then divorced. Mabel may have remarried and had more children - (yikes!) I know I do not have much to go on here; if anyone can make some sense of this or piece something together I would be extremely appreciative. Looking for information on any of these people. "Moss" died in Chappel on Nov 11, 1920 leaving a wife "Abby" and teenage dtr Elvira. There were 4 sons all adults have info only on one, Guy Llewellyn King. Abby returned to Broken Bow and married a Charles Barrett 2yrs later.

Rollin and Suzy Clark are an inigma and I have no information on them I'm just posting thier names on all county sites in hopes someone knows them. They were my great-grandparents and were married in Hasrvard, Saline County, NE. They had a dtr named Doris (married Guy L. King) in Aug of 1898.

Thanks for your response. I have not been searching the Krumm family, just in relation to a Schmidt family. So I do not have hardly any information on them. The Krumm family that I did look for were in Lancaster County, Nebraska before moving on.

Thanks again, though for sending your info, never know what information will be just what someone else needs.

I am looking for obits or cemtery records for Fannie & Rewert/Revert or Robert Miller(could be Muller/Mueller)
1930 census shows them living in Venango NE - Robert age 62 & Fannie age 53 - with 6 children.
Fannie was born in Gage County Nebraska (1877) and Robert was born in Germany (1867).
Fannie's sister Sophia and Henry Daubendick lived in Big Springs and are buried there in Big Springs City Cemetery.
I am quite sure that they were Lutheran.
