Where was the Original Town of Imperial Located

I have found where the town of Imperial was located on the east and west Grant Highway and then the buildings were moved to where the town is now located. What high way was then considered the Grant Highway? When was the town relocated and why?

It also states that the town was formed on the homesteads of Thomas Mercer and Melville J. Goodrich. The Grant High way was where the buildings were built with one side of the street on Mercer property and the other side Goodrich Property.

This took place in the late 1885 and is signed by Benjamin Harrison, President and M. McKean, Secretary.
