I have been told that we "Podraza" are from Poland All I know is that Marie Magdeline Angelina married a Podraza she was born in Germany and spoke polish. She had 4 children Louis Paul Sr (My G-Father), Phillip, William (Billy), Clara they are shown in the 1920 Census but I don't know they father or any thing about him. MY GRANDMOTHER WAS ANNA PODRAZA. I HAVE THAT HER MOTHER WAS KATE SOCK/PODRAZA. AND HER FATHER WAS PAUL PODRAZA. MY GRANDMOTHER WAS BORN IN ILLIONIS. THEY MOVED TO NEBRASKA. IN THE 1900 CENSUS ANNA HAD A SISTER NAMED KATE, AND TWO BROTHERS , JOHN AND CHARLIE. I ALSO HAVE THAT ON MY GRANDMOTHER OBIT. SHE WAS MARRIED TO THOMAS MICEK. HE DIED VERY YOUNG. WHEN MY FATHER GOT MARRIED MY GRANDMOTHER MOVED TO ILLIONIS WITH MY PARENTS,SHE DIED IN 1961. DOES ANY OF THIS SOUND FAMILIAR.

By any chance have you found out any more about your Podraza family in Nebraska? Is the sister Kate that you referred to in your Podraza message board (4 Mar 2002) the same Kate Podraza who married Andrew Bawiec? I show that Kate Podraza Bawiec was born in Pazenew, Poland, but I have not followed up that location yet. I am beginning to wonder if Kate Podraza is related to the others I am reading about on the Podraza message board... I would just like to straighten out what I have so far, and try to confirm some relationships.

Also, I have a Mary MICZEK married to John SILVER in Nebraska, relating to my JABLONSKI research. (I can connect to so many Polish-Nebraska names!) Does this fit into your MICZEK family?

My father, Leonard (1914-1991), grew up in Duncan. He was the son of Henry Micek and Della (Adella) Sokol. He had one brother Alphonse and two sisters Dorothy Mueller and Angie Zack. My grandfather's parents were Joseph Micek and Josephine M Czapala. My grandmother's parents were Jozef Sokol and Wiktorya (Victoria) Kudron. If this helps, let me know. I do have some dates of birth, marriage and immigration. I'm just starting to do some genealogy searching and it was wild to find these two family names pop up--together. Regards, Marsha

I have a picture of Joseph and his children minus the last four.
I also have an obituary from Joseph Francis d. 12/19/1961,
that list all 17 Children.

Thomas G Micek (b 1867) m. MaryAnn Skroupa (b. 1871)
Frank (1892), Clifford (1894), Emelia (1894), Stephen (1896), Thomas (1898), Theodosia (Doris) (1901), John Henry (1906), Florence (1909) and Loretta (1913). I have a few pictures from this line of the family.

In my Micek Lineage I have Thomas Micek (b. 1882) m. 6/18/1906 Anna Podraza (b. 1890 Ill.) They had seven children.

His brother Joseph Micek (1857-1934) m. 10/27/1880 Josephine Czapla (1860-1909). They had 17 children.

I believe that their father Joseph Micek m. Francesea Zagorska, or this could have been Joseph Micek (1857-1934) first wife who died young.

I have been researching the Joseph Czapla and Victoria (Skorupa)Czapla family line for a number of years. My research starts with Joseph and Victoria who came to America in 1876 from Tarnow Poland and settled in Duncan Ne. The line I have been concentrating on is Joseph and Victoria's son, Frank Czapla. However, I do have some data on Joseph and Victoria's children and their children.
I would be delighted to share information with other decendants of Joseph and Victoria Czapla.
