Ervin Borer
ALBION - Ervin L. Borer, 73, of Albion, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at his home in Albion.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion with the Rev. Frank Baumert officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Petersburg with military rites by The American Legion Post 162 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 736 of Albion and The American Legion Post 334 of Petersburg.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. today at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, 7 p.m. at the church with a 7:30 p.m. wake service and 9 a.m. Friday at the church.
Mr. Borer was born Sept. 1, 1931, on a farm northeast of Lindsay to Phillip and Bertha (Beierman) Borer. He moved with his family to a farm north of Albion where he attended rural Boone County School District 56.
He farmed with his father until January 1953 when he entered the U.S. Army.
He married Mary Ann Seier on May 12, 1953. Following his honorable discharge in December of 1954, he returned to Boone County where they operated the family dairy farm and raised their family.
They moved to Lindsay in 1993 where he worked at Lindsay Mfg. Following a severe heart attack in 2000, they moved to Albion.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Petersburg where he was a Eucharistic minister, a member of the Holy Name Society and served on the school board of District 65.
Survivors include his wife of Albion; four sons, Thomas (Diana) Borer of Neligh, Gail (Kathy) Borer of Albion, Dean (Jean) Borer of Norfolk, Keith (Nora) Borer of Kearney; four daughters, Nancy (Kenny) Parks of Neligh, Ann (Floyd) Knust of Guymon, Okla., Alice (Jim) Mescher of Albion, and Shirley (Jerry) Chramosta of Kearney; three sisters, Julie Ann Borer of Joliet, Ill., Rosie (Jim) Nelson of Grand Island, and Lucille (Bernard) Kuhlman of Petersburg; three brothers, Elmer (Rita) Borer of Atkinson, Jerry (Susie) Borer of Petersburg, and Harry (Arlene) Borer of Omaha; and sister-in-law Marie Borer of Wahoo; 30 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Elaine Borer; son Floyd Borer; sister Delores Borer; four brothers, Ralph Borer, Maurice Borer, Richard Borer and Francis Borer, who died in infancy.
