St. Matthew's Catholic Cemetery near Sidney?

In "Courage Enough", the entry for John Niehenke (m. Julia Kelly) regarding his passing states that "interment was in St. Matthew's Catholic Cemetery north of Sidney". He was buried 27 Aug 1962. The article states Julia died Feb 1975 and I would assume she is buried next to John. I find no listing on-line for St. Matthew's Catholic Cemetery; there is no listing for it on the Rootsweb archive pages for the county; findagrave.com has a heading for it with NO entries at all. Can someone shed any light regarding this cemetery?

Can someone please help me. I am looking for a broter om my great-grandfather. He was born in Oslo (Kristiania) on Sept. 14 1877. And emigrated to The USA on the S.S. Island departed from Oslo November the 30 th 1899. He was heading for Chicago Illinois. The next clue I have on him is a small newspaper notice from an american newspaper telling about the death of his brother. (See attached file) I also have a letter from him posted in 1912 where he writes Fairview. Can anybody please help me track this person? I do not know anything else. Did he have a family? Where is the farm he owned now? Does anybody live there and so on... I think maybe I have pictures of him, but in those pictures there are other people to. I do not now who is who.

Thank you barbdale_1! Yes that must be Knut's grave, and it's certainly their marriage certificate.
Some of this I had found out myself, but where I got stuck you've found all the really interesting info! My grandmother didn't know her dad had been married before, and she really enjoyed looking at wedding certificates etc. She is amazed at how much you can find out. But I don't want
to make her sad she missed out on getting to know her half-sister, so I've decided not to tell her. But the rest of the family and I are so happy to have read about her. Thank you so much for the newspaper Obituary!

Funeral services for Lillie Nellie Doyle, 90, Williston, N.D., were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at the Assembly of God Church in Williston. Rev. Kris Johnson officiated. After a reception, interment was held at the Fairview Cemetery, Fairview.
Lillie was born on April 7, 1916, on a farm near Fairview, the daughter of Knute and Nellie (Dahl) Tautro. Her mother, Nellie, due to difficulties of the birth, died 10 days after the delivery. Lillie was taken in by her grandparents, Nicolai and Ann Dahl. She was raised on their family farm near Fairview and moved into town after she reached the age of high school.
As a young gal, Lillie worked as a waitress at the Hotel Albert in Fairview. She enjoyed meeting new people and waiting on them. This was a busy time, and the hotel was the focal point of the community.
On Feb. 4, 1950, Lillie and Edward Doyle were married in Miles City. They returned to Fairview where they raised their three children. In 1974, she moved to Williston, N.D., to be near her daughters. Edward preceded her in death in January 1991 at Williston. She entered the Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home in January of 1998.
Lillie will be remembered as a good and loving mother with a good sense of humor; she cared endlessly for her daughters and, in time, her grandchildren. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Fairview while living there, and was attending the Church of the Nazarene in Williston before moving to the nursing home.
She enjoyed her family and her time spent at the Williston Senior Citizens having coffee with friends. She was a member of the Sons of Norway for many years. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage.
Lillie died at the Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home on Friday, July 7, 2006.
She is survived by her daughters and their families: Carmen (Dick) McFarlin, Williston, and children Jamie, Cameron and Brook; Debbie (Phil) Cotter, Billings, and their children Casey, Phil Jr., Eric, Kendall and Mckenzy; and Pat (Norman) Amundson, of Harvey, N.D., and their children Paul, Scott, Travis, Brandon, Chelsea and Dustin; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

I'm looking to find out about my great grandfathers family.
Because my great grandmother did not talk about him, I only have his name and my grandmothers place of birth to go by... I am hoping to find out about him for my grandmother who does not even have a photo.

My grandmother is born in Richland County, Montana or North Dakota in 1924.
Her dad was Knut Matias Olausson Tautra, but the family might have changed its name to Tautero (according to Ellis island records).

My great aunt Myra Jackson taught in or near Sidney MT in 1906-09. (She taught in Miles City 1909-10.) She kept a photo album from her time there. The photos are unlabeled, but clearly show eastern Montana scenes of the period. I've scanned the entire album. Hi David.So nice to contact you.If you follow the links on the Suagatuck-Douglas Historical Society site you will find a picture posted for Robert Reid Curran ,b Nov 19,1864, as well as a picture of Elizabeth Reid Dempster,Archibald's second wife.Elizabeth's date of death is incorrect on Family Search.org.I have the Saskatchewan Death Registraion for Jane Reid,1st wife to Archibald Curran, died Jan 23,1897 and is buried at Moose Jaw,Saskatchewan,Canada.I would happily send it to you if you would like.
I have yet to find a spouse for James J. Curran,let alone his children. There is an un-named Curran,male,born to Jane and Archibald,in Illinois on Nov 27,1871.Would you tell me where James J.Curran is buried?

Decendants of James J. Curran, son of Archibald and Jane Reid, wound up in Kansas and then Oklahoma, where I live. My maternal grandfather was John Curran, second son of James J. This branch of the Currans still lives in Oklahoma. DNA testing as confirmed the link to Archibald. Does anyone happen to have any photos of any of the Currans? I have a few includine a couple that I am having trouble identifing.

Jane Reid was my great aunt. I have been trying to gather whatever info I can on her and Archibald Curran to make my story of them more interesting. Some of their children stayed in Canada,ie Saskatchewan, where I live,and others went to Montana. I am searching for any info on their children and grandchildren. As you can see, a number of people have helped me a lot already. Being from the USA,has enabled them to access records that I have difficulty with from here.I am researching all 12 children and THEIR lines of my Great Great Grandparents from Ireland to Canada in 1856.It is exciting to realize I have extended family in Montana as well as Michigan. Well, that makes more sense... You are looking for the descendants of JOHN Curran in Montana, not info on Archibald or Jane. The info also shows you already have the information on Archibald and Jane.

This article you identify in the book:
Montana, its story and biography : a history of aboriginal and territorial Montana and three decades of statehood
Authors: L E Munson; Publisher: American Historical Society; Date: 1921
Pages 393-394 shows not only a bit of history about John Curran, but also his parents Archibald and Jane. It verifies the below 1910 Census data on his family and shows considerable information about John, wife Lucy, and the three children (at the time of publication).
--This article identifies he did have a ranch in Richland County, but he abandoned it and took up residence at Brockton, (currently in Roosevelt County, established 1919, so it may have been in Richland County in the few years before 1919), and engaged in farming in a lease arrangement on the Fort Peck Reservation.

The Bureau of Land Management has a database of land patents:

I was looking for Curran descendents that would be interested in having the death certificate of Jane Reid,if they didn't already. I have a copy from the Dept of Vital Statistics for Saskatchewan. As it was for genealogical purposes,it does not have her cause of death.

As I have been writing for several years... the early obituaries are NOT like they are today, popularity and change to the present format came later after newsprint became more available. The current full story obits came mostly after WWII. BUT, even today, many elderly do not have posted obits, especially when many move to live near family late in life and have no local community involvement, their wishes, their health issues, family decision, etc. Back in 1906, you are very lucky to find one with this much info.

If you contact the MonDak Heritage Center, have them check the Courage Enough Book 2.

According to the Index of Courage Enough 2, there is a story/and or picture of Clyde and Mana Hopkins on page 381 and Francis and Belle Krueger on page 393.

"An open house birthday party honoring Mana Hopkins on her 100th birthday was Dec. 14 at Richland Homes, where Mana has been a residence since February 1980."

"Mana was born Dec. 14, 1885 in Medford, Wis., to parents Adam and Christina Christman. She grew up in Medford and attended school through the 12th grade. Mana is the eldest of six children. She taught school for seven years."

I am looking for information about the death of Alfred E Johnson in Lambert Montana on November 23, 1926.
The story is that he was murdered in a robbery.
I would like to know if there is any newspaper record of this incident.
Also I am looking to see if he had a family in Montana.
After his death his body was taken to his home in Eagle Bend, Minnesota where he is buried.
