I was out to the riverview cemetery a few weeks ago at the grave site of Harry and Charles Mcneal. I also did a search for death certificates for them in Ravalli County but could not find any. I will try in Missoula. If you would Like what info I have on the McNeals please contact me. My son, Sean McNeal has been in touch with James Whitney and gleaned much info from him.

I don't think I ever got the obit for Walter Logerstedt (1903-1973) who died on Aug 24, 1973 and is buried in Riverview cemetery in Hamilton. You just sent me his father's obituary. He had a sister Grace Moore who died on Aug 17, 1994 and was born on May 22, 1907 according to the Social Security Death Index. I was unable to find her in the Montana death index for some reason. No idea on who her husband was other than Mr. Moore however. They had one son at least named Floyd Andrew Moore born around 1942.

Thanks,

Eric

Hello Eric;

The Ravalli County Museum sent an email back to my inquiry about Grace Moore and have an obit by that name but that person died in 1955. Sorry about the dead end. I checked the Montana death index thru Ancestry and they list 5 Grace Moore's but none match the dates for her birth and death that you posted. The closest is a Grace Moore estimated to be born in 1908 but she died in 1988. If your Grace Moore died in MT she should be listed in the MT Death Index. Do you have any more information on her that you think might help?

Matt

William and Mary (Duffy) BURKE - Stevensville

I am looking for information on members of my extended PRENDERGAST family from Illinois who lived in Ravalli County. One branch of this family moved to Montana around 1915 or so. William Burke married Mary Duffy on 2/7/1899 in Bureau County, Illinois. William was the son of Thomas Burke and Bridget McGrath. Mary was the daughter of John Duffy and Ellen PRENDERGAST.

The older children of William and Mary were born in Bureau County. Sometime shortly before the 1910 census, the family moved to Miner County, South Dakota where they would live a few years. Their youngest daughter Mary T. was born in 1912 while they were living there. A couple years later, the family continued on west to Montana and appear in the 1920 census living in Meagher County. By the 1930 census, they are living in Deer Lodge in Powell County.

In addition to Powell County, some of their descendants later ended up in Stevensville in Ravalli County. Based on my research to date, I have been able piece together a descendant listing for William and Mary that appears below. If anyone has information on any of the mentioned people, I would like to hear from you. I am glad to share any information that I have on the PRENDERGAST family. It is very unusual and I have attached a photo. His wife was Ellen Travis. Kids were Joseph, Clifford and Mary. Would love to share family photos and documents. We are Bowen's sister Caroline's descendants. Joseph's were Lewis, Leigh and Ira. Clifford's dau was Laura.

I am looking for descendants of Byron Rathbun, born 25 Dec 1849, in Wisconsin, after his parents moved from Herkimer Co. NY to Racine and and Sparta WI. He and wife Jane Ella Fellows lived in Morrison Co. MN in 1880. He was living in Stevensville, MT in 1906. I have a lot of Rathbun connections to share. My husband is a descendant of Caroline Rathbun Leigh Love, Byron's sister. Byron's children were Mary A. Joseph W. and Clifford, born from 1871-1876, but perhaps there were more. Byron's siblings were Samuel, Justus, Mary Ann, Caroline, Giles, Olive, Bowen, and Charles. They were children of Rev. James Eldred Rathbun and Ruth Cummings Rathbun.
I did write to the Hamilton Public Library but haven't received anything back from them. I may try to see if I can get down there sometime in the coming month and help try to locate something for you if the weather cooperates. All of a sudden its really winter here with snow everyday. Sorry about not getting back to you sooner.

Cheers

Matt
Hello again Eric;

I checked our local paper at the library for the obit you wanted but was unable to find it. It may not have appeared in the paper in Missoula but may still have been published in the local paper in Hamilton, called the Ravalli Republic. I emailed the library down in Hamilton to see if they might be able to locate it for you. I'll let you know what they email back. hopefully we can find her obit somewhere.

cheers;

Matt
