Main St.
Anaconda, MT 59711
PHONE: 406.563.4060

I suggest that you phone first to see if they will check and see if they actually do have this certificate on file; if not, it would be found at the Dept. of Vital Statistics, in Helena, Montana.

The County Seat of Deer Lodge County is the city of Anaconda; conversely, the County Seat of Powell County is the city of Deer Lodge. As Mr. Kastner died in Deer Lodge County, you need to send your request to the address in Anaconda, and not Deer Lodge.

I hope you find the above information useful

Thank you Larry for posting all of this. Great reading about the history and experiences of those living in the early days of the town.

My Danish great-grandfather was Andrew Peter Larsen...and his wife was Annie Sorensen...her father was Jorgen Sorensen. Annie's parrents appeared to have settled in the Deer Lodge area after arriving from Denmark...not sure of their migration from the east to MT. Andrew and his parents arrived in the US in early 1860...his obit said they settled in Salt Lake and then he came to MT...I have not been able to find any info on him until the 1900 census. When he and Annie were married. His family entry in the 1910 census is almost unreadable..unless you knew what should be there. I understand that Andrew's mother Annie Sophia Nielsen became Mormon about the time of her and Lars Madsens 3rd childs birth when they lived in Ribe...as there was some issue over getting that son baptised Luthern..and it had to be done at a later age with approval of Annie. I do believe she traveled with her son Andrew and another child from a different family...via the Mormon groups. I have not found Lars or Annie in Salt Lake at the proper ages. So the census may have some errors.

Again...thanks for sharing
Dottie

I tried attaching the whole photo but it was too large so I cropped out Joe Larsen and Chris Jergensen. This photo was taken in Deer Lodge in 1936 at the meeting of the Montana Pioneers Society. I don't know if this Larsen is connected to you but he would have been born about 1865 + or - that is when Cris was born.

Below is another clipping of intreset about the history of Deer Valley.

Early Days in Deer Lodge Valley as Experienced by Chris Jergensen, Ranchman

Anaconda Bureau.

Among the readers of the Miner is Chris Jorgensen of Warm Springs, one of the prominent ranchmen of the Deer Lodge valley. As a boy he arrived on the site of his present home in the spring of 1872, having made the trip overland with his parents from Iowa. At that time Butte consisted of only a few cabins and Anaconda was undreamed of.
Although that was many years ago, many incidents that happened are still vivid in Mr. Jergensen’s memory, and he has gone to the trouble of recording them so they can be published in the columns of his favorite Paper.

His story is as follows:

“In the spring of 1872 my father, mother, two sister’s, Mrs. B. F. Crosswhite of Anaconda and Mrs. Herman Johnson and I, in company with six other families, left Iowa via Ogden, Utah, crossing the Idaho desert and passing along the great salt lake trail, we finally entered the Deer Lodge Valley, June 20, 1872, most of the party settling at Race Track and Deer Lodge, while our family settled on Warm Spring creek. The only survivors of that party of men and women are Mr. and Mrs. Lars Beck, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Johnson, and Andrew Hendrickson of Race Track, while the children are grandparents today. Mr. Johnson built the first flourmill in this section of the country for the late Morgan Evans in 1873.

First Settlements

The first inhabitants we found along Warm Spring creek were a few French Canadians married to Indians. These French were very generous and hospitable, and I can never forget the kindnesses shown us. It was late in the spring when we came, and having nothing much but our bare necessities, we found it very hard to make a living. It was too late in the season to put in a crop and many times the French shared a beef with us. They made their living by dealing in ponies, which were driven to the north and traded off for buffalo robes. They also had quite a few’ head of cattle running on the open range the year around.
“What few white men living in this section were interested in placer mining. At that time Butte consisted of a few log cabins, homes of the miners. We took products to that place to sell, but generally it was disposed of to the men who worked in the mines on Silver Bow creek. Often father and I spent the night with John Humphrey who had a cabin near a large pine tree on West Broadway, picketing our horses where the fire station now is located. Anaconda wasn’t thought of in those days, the principal mining camps being Deer Lodge and German Gulch.”
“In 1872 father took up land adjoining the Alec Glover ranch where the city of Anaconda now stands. Thinking we were too far from civilization, he withdrew his rights which were taken up later by Major Baggs, and filed on a homestead near Warm Springs where we have remained ever since.

Night School In Shack

“The first school I attended was a night school, which was held in a log shack known as the Bullwhacker cabin and owned by George Barribow. My classmates were all half-breeds. I being the only White child. I shall never forget the teacher, he was a Canadian Frenchman named
Batiste Connell and the highest reader we had was the second. His brother, Leon Connell, who died some years later, built the first house In Deer Lodge. The day of his funeral all business houses were closed as a tribute to his memory. “We also had spelling bees when the older French joined in, for they were certainly very sociable neighbors. Our greatest task was that not one of the class, including the teacher, could pronounce the harder words so they were passed over, Shortly afterward the building was used for a dance hall and many good times the people enjoyed there on winter evenings. Several Butte people attended, among those being Jeff Lavell, the sawmill man at that time: Al Pierce and sister from the Hump, also Tom McTague of Deer Lodge. The music was furnished by Nels Jensen and Barry Eccleston of Gregson.
“The next school I attended was the Morgan Evans School, the first rural school In Deer Lodge County. It was some school believe me, The scholars ranging in age from 8 to 40 years. The building was a log shack, with dirt roof and the desks were slabs with the flat side up, also the seats and teacher’s desk. The blackboard was the only thing made of lumber. A writing school occupied the room in the evening and everyone was welcome, provided be brought his own candle. It was rather a hard journey for me, as I had to ride four miles, leave my horse at a neighbor’s and walk the rest of the way, which was about the same distance. Some of the most prominent people of Montana attended that school, among those being Mrs. George Welcome, Mrs. Harvey Showers, the late Mrs. Tim Callan, the late Charlie Jones and William R. James of Anaconda; Benjamin Phillips of Phillips county, and Mrs. Montana Savory, formerly of Southern Cross, who has the distinction of being the first white girl born In Montana.

Indians Grow Hostile.

“In those days there were many Indians, but they were very peaceable. Some years later they become quite hostile. In 1877, when they broke out, recalls to my mind an incident, which I will never forget. I had taken a young saddle horse on a Sunday and had gone to visit a friend several miles away. My visit was short, for in a while came the hasty news that the Indians had broken loose in the Bitter Root, and were coming up by the hundreds through the Deer Lodge valley, scalping and killing everybody in their path. We were told to pack up everything and hurry to Warm Springs for safety, where the women and children were to be put into the yard and the men to stand guard. Warm Springs was just a stage station at that time, which had been converted into an institution taking care of about 20 patients. My horse was running loose in the corral, and not being well broken, I couldn’t get the bridle on quick enough, but when I did I can tell you I sped like the wind. I passed women and children afoot fleeing to Warm Springs for safety, and some of them didn’t take time to pack up their belongings. Finally the good news came that the Indians had gone the other way, crossing the divide by Wisdom into the Big Hole. There were no telephones or telegraph so the only messages were carried by Indian scouts on horseback,
“That night a band of volunteers were rushed to Warm Springs to aid the settlers. The next day they gathered up all the horses in the neighborhood, without permission one being my saddle horse and started to meet the tribes. They met in Rig Hole and fought at the place known as Gibbons’ battle ground. The white men were greatly outnumbered and many were killed and wounded. Those of the settlers owning a wagon were requested to go to the scene of the fight and bring home the wounded who were rushed to Deer Lodge for aid. I remember 45 wagons passed my home. One of my neighbors brought over a soldier who had been shot in the leg. In his account of the battle, he said: “The Indians hid behind trees and fired, keeping the white men encircled in the opening. There was one gun with a particular report and every time it sounded a soldier fell. That Indian must have been some marksman. Finally the smoke became so thick, objects were invisible. I was lying beside a stream of water unable to move, when presently I perceived a small Indian child coming toward me with a long knife in his hand prepared to scalp me. I reached out and grabbed him, and held him under the water in the stream until life was extinct.
“To my surprise, my horse came back unscarred, but even though he looked as if he had had the worst of the deal, he was well broken. That horse later became the fastest horse in Deer Lodge County, and many old timers will recall the races she won in those days,

Interest In Racing.

“Court was held in a building where the Willow Glen school house now stands. The presiding justice was Judge Weir, and this day he was trying a party on a horse stealing case. During the trial the subject of’ horse racing was brought up and someone put up a bet against my horse. The track was marked out and the race began, Court adjourned until after the race, even the judge became Interested, My horse was the winner, She took the purses for many years, one race which was especially interesting was one Fourth of July at a farmers’ picnic, when she ran against ‘Blue Philly.’ a Deer Lodge horse, and ‘Grey Eagle’ from Silver Bow county, and won.
“Coming back to early day’s and, hunting experiences, I recall several which almost ended my life. The country was nothing but open range and land could he taken up for homesteading anywhere. Several thousand acres were occupied by swamps, brush, and springs, and were infested by all kinds of wild animals, The deer raised their young there, also the bears, which came down from the mountains to make it their summer habitation, Believe me it was some jungle. ‘Warm Springs creek and all the streams abounded In fish and I remember angling in the Deer Lodge river when there was a fish for every throw of the line.

Battle With Moose

‘‘The first incident I recall was seeing two moose crossing the prairie from one swamp to another, as were the habits of animals In those days, I killed one hut the other bounded up the creek a short distance, I also tracked and shot it once and It fell, but when I came up prepared to cut its throat, to my surprise It sprang up and started towards me. To save my self, I jumped into the creek, and although the water was not deep, it wasn’t altogether pleasant in winter.
I faced the oncoming animal and fired again, which took effect, the moose falling a few feet from me.
“I often hunted blue ‘grouse where the Anaconda smelter new stands, and one day, while hunting there. I had a thrilling experience. They flew up in enormous bunches and some of them lit in a large pine tree at the foot of the gulch. I was walking easily so as to secure a good shot, when I spied a blue grouse sitting up on a limb, I fired and immediately a large black bear jumped up in front of me from his nest of pine needles at the foot of the tree. The bear fled in one direction and I in the other, but I hesitated long enough to claim my grouse. When I reached my horse and was back in the saddle again I felt more safe. Some time later a large bear invaded a vegetable garden belonging to one of the neighbors. Pete Villencure, who had a, ranch adjoining Warm Springs. The, garden was something to be proud of, and indeed Pete was. One night his dog barked, and upon opening the door of his cabin, perceived a large bear devouring the vegetables of the garden, which was in front of the house. The bear appeared to, be quite calm and went on with his meal, bet Pete in his excitement grabbed his shot gun and fired closing the door immediately. The next day I happened along and to my surprise found the garden a total wreck. Bear tracks were in evidence everywhere.

Escape From Death

‘My closest escape from death, and the one which gave me the greatest chill, happened about a year later, it was a common occurrence for the bears to feast on young calves around the neighborhood and they didn’t leave either until they were satisfied. We had a garden also outside the window surrounded by a fence 18 by 15 feet connecting the house. The only opening was a small place by the door barely large enough to squeeze through.
‘One dark night we heard an awful commotion, indeed the whole house I shook. We remained in safety but when morning dawned, we heard the dog barking near the creek, close by our home, then thickly bordered with brush. The fence of the garden was lying flat on the ground nearest the door and the garden was in ruins, I was a little timid about tackling, the creature myself, but one of my neighbors had a gun so I sought his help. He had an old-fashioned needle gun, which had been procured at the time the Indians were on the warpath, to which he attached a bayonet. When we arrived at the place whence the bear was supposed to have entered the brush, we found he had disappeared. We tracked him down the path which led on the outskirts of the brush to Warm Springs, which I always thought was peculiar as generally the bears keep in the thick brush. He crossed Villeneuve house below, and continued on down the other side, to a place nearly opposite the mound at Warm Springs, where he went into a clump of willows, My partner went in after him, but I remained on the outside. It wasn’t long until I heard him, call, ‘Come on, he’s here, presently I heard the report of his gun, and the brush began to crack. The bear fled for the openings. When my companion appeared, he was trembling with fear, but we kept on the trail of the animal to see in which direction he had gone, for we felt there would be no more danger. As we were passing a bush about 300 yards farther, we got a glimpse of the bear standing up straight on his haunches. We came upon the creature so suddenly, it almost took my breath away, in fact we were both rather surprised. He was an enormous cinnamon hear, and I will never forget the look he gave us for I believe we both spied him at the same time. I happened to be the nearest to him, a distance of about six feet. As soon as my companion noticed him, he stuck the bayonet in front of me. There by saving my life, and in the wink of an eye, the bear sprang toward us with a terrible roar very much like the roar of an angry bull. He struck the bayonet with one paw and the man with the other, and grasped his face between his huge jaws. They tumbled to the ground at my feet, the bear on top. My hair went up on end, and I believe the gray hairs that I have now whitened at that instant.

Skull Crushed by Blow.

As quick as I could, I leveled the gun back of the bear’s shoulder, which was less than three feet, and fired. He rose up on his haunches and fell, but I dropped my gun and ascended t tree. How I climbed that tree was a mystery, for It was a small alder almost shorn of branches. The man had rolled into a pool of water and was suffocating, so I knew I had to climb down and pull him out, which was a hard task with the bear so near. He was lying beside my companion with his head between his paws as if he was sleeping. I picked up my gun and fired,
Twice, but due-to my nervousness, I believe my shots went wild. I discovered the animal dead, so I know my first shot, when I climbed the tree was the fatal one, striking the bear in the heart, which was particularly lucky as it happened, for he undoubtedly would have killed the two of us.
“The man was rushed to Deer Lodge, and treated by Dr. Mitchell, one of the founders of Warm Springs. but he was too far gone, his skull having been crushed by the blow the bear had given him,. Although I was a good shot, it ended my hunting experiences for a while. It was nothing for me to shoot the head off of a prairie chicken with a rifle. I realized the dangerous scrapes I had been in, so I layed off hunting big game for quite a few years. I
“In conclusion. I cannot overlook the days the stagecoach was used, hurrying over the roads with one or two passengers: the ox team drawing provisions from the nearest railroad, which
was over 500 miles away, the bull whacker trudging every step of the way; the jirk line driving six and eight span of horses or mules over dangerous, roads with only one line. All these things I have seen, which would look almost as strange to the people of today as did the first appearance of the automobile and aeroplane,”

Wales, claims to have the world’s tallest chimney, a smelting plant having built one more than two miles long up a mountain side and extending 100 feet above it.

APRIL 4, 1921

Source: Butte Miner, Butte Montana
This Obit was in an envelope of newspaper clippings my great Aunt Mary Ester (Jergensen) Parks had saved. Mary was born on a ranch just west of Warm Springs, MT in 1899 and died in Long Beach, CA in 1974. Most of those in the file are known to me but Margaret Larsen was not.

The Jergensen family was in a group of disillusioned Mormon settlers (Morrisites) that came to the Deer lodge Valley in 1866, some of their group stayed in Warm Springs and some in Race Track, most went on to Deer Lodge. Anaconda did not exist then and I believe the name Race Track came later.

Are you researching the Larsen family in the Deer Lodge Valley?
This is some of the very best information that anyone has been able to give. I cannot thank you enough for your help. An interesting note is that in 1904 Daniel C. was a bridge tender for the origonal Burnside Bridge which was a swing gate bridge and required opening often for goods to travel up and down the river from the Pacific coast, Fanny E. (McKinstry) was said to have been very small in stature and crippled from childhood (cause unknown) and she lived on in Portland until her death in 1936 (she is buried with her mother (Lavina Wood McKinstry and husband in the Oddfellows section of Riverview Cemetary). Earl attended Medical school for some time and went to be a hospital steward in the Phillipines during the Spanish American War after his first wife died of Influenza and a difficult miscarrage brought on by the illness. Earl returned through China bringing with him items given to me by my grandmother (his youngest daughter, by his second wife Helen). He retianed concussion injuries during the war and developed a brain tumor that inevitably caused his death in 1934(he is buried with other war veterans in Riverview Cemetery). Information about his brother Harvey E. is available as he also was a well respected member of Portland business communities he is interred with is wife, Annie F., at Riverview Abbey). His widow who was an accomplished painter lived on to 91 years of age and passed in 1964 surrounded by family. Ruth Helen was an accomplished musician, wife & mother and Marjorie Jean married a well respected Pacific Bell engineer and had the opportunity to raise a daughter and travel the world before passing in 2004 4 months shy of her 100th birthday, she is resting with her beloved husband at Portland Memorial where you can also find Helen and her parents (Watson Thomas Bodley & Margeria Watts Bodley), her sister Jean Bodley, her borhter Ralph and his wife Mary.

Thank you for your reply. I have seen this article before and the fact's have been a bit confused due to lack of context. Lavina (Wood) McKinstry (Thomas B.'s widow) passed in Portland, OR Where she was in residnce at the time. Her death certificate which I aquired from state offices say's she was in residence at that address "off & on" since 1887 (I believe). They had apparently carried on various business ventures in Deer Lodge as her husband died 3 years earlier in Deer Lodge, they also retained family in Deer Lodge.
Thanks again!

From "The Anaconda Standard," published at Anaconda, Montana on Sunday Morning, April 28, 1901, page 24:

IN DEER LODGE.

Mrs. E.S. Stackpole received last Monday the unwelcome news that her mother, Mrs. T.B. McKinstry, had undergone an operation for the removal of a cancerous tumor from her right side and did not seem to rally from it. Mrs. Stackpole left on the evening train. Word reached here Wednesday that Mrs. McKinstry died at 3 p.m. of that day. Mr. and Mrs. McKinstry are old and well known residents of Deer Lodge. Mr. McKinstry died in Deer Lodge some three years ago. Since then Mrs. McKinstry has spent most of her time with her daughter, Mrs. Lounsbury of Portland, where she died.

I cannot thank you enough this is ABSOLUTELY some of the very best information anyone has come accrossed. I had no idea this was available! I am also searchign for a bit about the Lounsbury's of Deer Lodge; Frances E (Fanny) married Daniel C. Lounsbury and there son Earl was born there in Deer Lodge. It was told to my mother that the Lounsbury's partook of the innkeeping/hotel keeping business. The Lounsbury's later moved to Portland, OR permanantly while it seems Lavina and Thomas McKinstry would continue to have business in MT and travel back and forth with some regularity.

Go to the following link, and then go to "Browse . . ." look under "S" and you will find two pages linked to E.S.
Montana did not become a Territory until 1864, and didn't achieve statehood until 1889. The Territory of Montana was comprised of 9 very large counties. The city of Deer Lodge was the County Seat of Deer Lodge County (which included the city of Butte in those years). By the early 1900s, these 9 counties had been divided into 56 much smaller counties. Now the city of Deer Lodge was the County Seat of the new Powell County, and the city of Anaconda became the County Seat of the much smaller Deer Lodge County; and Butte became the seat of the smallest county in the state, Silver Bow County.

In order to see if there might be a Death Certificate on file for Thomas B. McKinstry, I suggest that you go to the following Powell County GenWeb site for the address of the Powell County Courthouse:

http://powell.mtgenweb.org/

You might also inquire as to who might have a listing of old ghosttown cemeteries in the area.

Another resource is the local newspaper, The Silver State Post, and the Grant Kohrs Library.

Here is what I have found:

In the book, "Montana Pay Dired: A Guide to the Mining Camps of the Treasure State," by Muriel Sibell Wolle, first published in 1963:

In Chapter 11, titled, "Highlands Gold and Heckla Silver," Pages 183-185, under Red Mountain City and Highland City on page 184: "By the summer of 1867, Red Mountain City was recognized as the largest settlement in southern Deer Lodge County, which at that time included Silver Bow County and reached from the Highlands north to Canada." In referring to Red Mountain City he mentions: ". . . It had a hotel run by Mr. and Mrs. Beden, a sawmill, a blacksmith shop, and two general stores, one operated by Charles Wunderlich and the other by Red Leggat and E.S. Stackpole, whose two story log building housed a Masonic Lodge on the upper floor. The sick were treated by Dr. Seymour Day whenever he was sober." This is the only mention of E.S. Stackpole.

In the book titled, "Names on the Face of Montana: The Story of Montana's Place Names," by Roberta Carkeek Cheney, 1983, on page 222:

"RED MOUNTAIN CITY: Had a post office 1867-1883. When the office closed mail was ordered to Butte City. It was named for nearby Red Mountain in the southeastern part of Silver Bow County." Note that in those years it would have been located in the much larger Deer Lodge County.

1865 KANSAS STATE CENSUS; Linn County; Mound City Post Office; Roll: ks1865_6; Enumerated on 09 Jun 1865:

McKINSTRY, Thomas B.; 41 years; male; occupation: trading; born in Pennsylvania.
McKINSTRY, Lavina; 35 years; female; born in Indiana.
McKINSTRY, Mary A.; 16 years; female; born in Indiana.
McKINSTRY, Harvey W.; 15 years; male; born in Indiana.
McKINSTRY, Fanny E.; 12 years; female; born in Indiana.
McKINSTRY, Edward F.; 4 years; male; born in Kansas.

1870 U.S. Federal Census; Montana Territory; Deer Lodge County; Pioneer City Post Office; Pioneer & Pikes Peak; Roll: M593_827; Page: 93; Image: 188:

McKINSTRY, Thomas B.; 46 years; male; white; hotel keeper; botn in Pennsylvania.
McKINSTRY, Lavina; 40 years; female; keeping house; born in Indiana.
McKINSTRY, Molly; 22 years; female; born in Indiana.
McKINSTRY, Harvey H.; 20 years; male; clerk in hotel; born in Indiana.
McKINSTRY, Fanny; 16 years; female; born in Indiana.
McKINSTRY, Edwin; 11 years; male; born in Kansas.

From the "Daily Miner," published at Butte, Montana on March 11, 1883:
COURT CALENDAR
No. 9, Harvey McKinstry vs. W.A. Clark, et.al., ejectmont: Hiram Knowles, Napton and DeWolfe & Shehan.

From the Daily Miner, published on January 17, 1885:
" . . . the administrators sale of the mining property belonging to the estate of Harvey W. McKinstry, deceased, has been postponed to April 5, 1885.

Daily Miner, May 13, 1885:
". . . A deed conveying to Wm. H. Young and Hezekiah Roudebush all the interest of H.W. McKinstry, deceased in the "Mapleton" quartz mining lode.
Edward S. The addresses for the Clerk & Recorder and Library can be found at the following link:

http://silverbow.mtgenweb.org/sbhowto2.htm

I hope you find the above information helpful in your search for information.

A.B. Cornielson officiating.

The deceased is survived by his wife and five small children. He was 40 years of age and was born at Westbrook, Minnesota. He has been a resident of Phillips county for a number of years and owned a large farm 30 miles north of Malta.
----------
NOTE: The headline on the obit spelled out "Haugness" but the body of the obit spelled the name "Haugnes."

Also please note that Warm Springs is located in Deer Lodge County and is the location of the Montana State Hospital for the mentally ill.
William and Mary (Duffy) BURKE - Deer Lodge

I am looking for information on members of my extended PRENDERGAST family from Illinois. One branch of this family moved to Montana around 1915 or so. William Burke married Mary Duffy on 2/7/1899 in Bureau County, Illinois. William was the son of Thomas Burke and Bridget McGrath. Mary was the daughter of John Duffy and Ellen PRENDERGAST.

The older children of William and Mary were born in Bureau County. Sometime shortly before the 1910 census, the family moved to Miner County, South Dakota where they would live a few years. Their youngest daughter Mary T. was born in 1912 while they were living there. A couple years later, the family continued on west to Montana and appear in the 1920 census living in Meagher County. By the 1930 census, they are living in Deer Lodge in Powell County.

In addition to Powell County, some of their descendants later ended up in Missoula, Ravalli, and Lewis and Clark counties. Based on my research to date, I have been able piece together a descendant listing for William and Mary that appears below. If anyone has information on any of the mentioned people, I would like to hear from you. I am glad to share any information that I have on the PRENDERGAST family.
Tammi,

I would love to get to know you also. I have always been very curious about aunts and uncles that I knew were out there somewhere. We live in Kansas. My mom Lenora and dad Ken have been married for 35 years and have us three kiddos. I am 33 (the oldest), my brother is Jason and is 32, and I have a sister Jill who is 30. Between the three of us my mom and dad have 7 grandchildren and 6 step grandchilren. So they are very busy as you can imagine. I let my mom know that I got in contact with you and she is excited to get to know you also. Here is her e-mail address
pasoprincs@sbcglobal.net She is waiting to hear from you also. This is so very exciting. Can't wait to get to know you also!

Jennifer

This is Lori Hauxwell. I also am doing similar research. As you probably know our ancestors altered their surnames upon arrival to the US. This may have been done with Haux....I was initiated in Helena, MT, 1980 during the state conference. However upon moving back to las Vegas I didnt join a local lodge. My lodge of origin was in Deer Lodge. My ggfather and gggfather Richard C Hauxwell were both masons from Deer Lodge area. So any information that you receive in your query that applies to me would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance. Lori Ann

Dear Tammi, my niece in Kansas told me about your search. Melody was my younger sister. I was one of the four children taken from the home and adopted out to a family in eastern Montana. I won't go into a lot of detail here, but if you would like to write me at my personal e-mail, that would be great as I would love to stay in contact with you.

Take care and I hope to hear from you soon.

By the way, I am a school teacher living in Salem, Oregon, but teaching over near the Oregon coast.

Rick Crone
